Are mining fighters better for the npc mining operation orders?
I've seen people mention a "simultaneous mining" bonus for mining operations with fighters in multiples of 6 up to 72 but at the same time i've also seen people say it has absolutely no effect. Would it be worth the time and effort to actually build a mining carrier?

The multi target bonus helps. It's not exactly linear, the full thread is buried somewhere.
More mining ships give more mining DPS as well, which also increases yield.

i have 5 ships each with a 12 mining fighter squad and working transporters
the bonus is "---"

is there something i'm missing?

Yep, there's the problem i was anticipating. I can't quite figure it out either

A ship needs hangars to use cooking laser fighters.
A ship needs hangars, a cargo bay, a teleport block(xanion+) and a teleport ship module to use raw laser fighters.

All ships can field 1 squadron for free. Modules are needed to add extra squadrons. The AI drop is particularly useful for mining fleets as it dramatically reduces ship costs and the penalty(no combat dodge bonus) doesn't matter for mining.

yeah i've got all that but still no bonus
they're great in sector mode, but when ordering them in map it seems don't use them

edit: fixed it, turns out the hangar clearance is absolute inside and out, and needed an extra .5 space
there was a bit of armour clipping. not sure what the .5 extra space is from though
well with 1 full squadron i got a 23% bonus

FWIW: In the code they're counted in increments of six. So five does _nothing_. And eleven is just as good as six.

R mining is very profitable my mining ship has 120 r mining fighters 90% ef xanion i'm averaging 2 sectors per load ,last time i need cash i sold a million xanion for 37 million
i will up load the 10 slot version so you can try it if you want to

Are you using a workshop build for the carrier? If so, please share :D

-------

Tried out some mods to boost mining and had millions of spare xanion in that game.

Around about that time there was a big "what TF use is xanion anyway?" thread. Nobody had any good replies :D

Subsequently I figured out it's also a good substitute for money when looking to ally with a faction (as little as 70k xanion meant I paid $0 for the privilege).

Another one I figured out was building stations - the whole point of trinium is to be light and nimble (well, relatively anyway), but stations don't move so trinium is wasted on them (I think) (I could be wrong).

Xanion is indeed an excellent throwaway material for stations and unimportant utility ships. Before the barrier, it's useful for maxing out the flagship's inner components while pushing up against the size limit. After the barrier, xanion is completely obsoleted by avorion.

Try to hold back on fighter spam until ogonite. It's perfect for mining any material and ogonite has little use in ship blocks.

the ship i'm using is a version of a ship i borrowed and modified into a mining carrier,i up loaded a 15 slot version of this same ship (this ship mines so many sectors i lost count but the last i was using it and refined a full load it took 14 hours to refine at my own refinery) but since i can't seem to find even a gram of ogonite i have to wait to get the 15 slot ship

once i get into the core i build new fighters out of avorion and convert all xanion to avorion and all trin armor to ogonite
