When you find a beacon, it'll have half of a coordinate and half a code. The coordinate gets saved in the quest description, not sure if the code is, too.
Each coordinate part is marked with a number and the axis. E.g.:
#63: X275
When you find both an X and a Y entry for the same number, you can put together the coordinates, and in the sector there you should be able to start the next part of the quest.
If you're sure you're in the right sector (could you post a screenshot with the sector ID and the quest visible?) but there's absolutely nothing there (try pressing TAB a few times to cycle through anything targetable), that's probably a bug and should be reported.
In addition to that, if you find both an "A" and a "B" code, you can skip most of the second phase by entering them at one of the beacons.
I know my bf got an unstable portal to those cords, but i havent found a way to do that.
The next phase, you go to one of the complete pairs of coordinates. It'll give you another complete pair of coordinates together with one half of the A/B code that's talked about.
From there, you start following the breadcrumbs. If you're lucky, you can get the complementary half on the very next beacon -- if you're unlucky, you may get nothing but A or nothing but B and effectively end up forced to do it the "hard way." In practice, you're very likely to find it within a few of these breadcrumb beacons (over 90% chance by the 5th beacon).
If you do get both halves of the code, you can use the "enter code" dialog option on the beacon and input the code with the big hexadecimal keyboard that pops up. Once it's put in, you'll have a shortcut to the end that may save you a good portion of the trek.
But i got it completed now.
