"Trade Goods" disabled?
Okay, coming back to playing after a while, new patch looks nice.

But I've pulled up to a Trading Post and I have "Excellent" relations with these guys, but the "trade goods" option is greyed-out / disabled and I cant trade with them.

Three trading stations in this system, all the same. I can check their Bulletin Boards, Buy Cargo Licenses, Hire Crew.. I could use a refinery in the same system from the same faction.. Trading Module shows me that they have goods and what the prices are, but I cant trade here.

I'm close enough to the station to be "docked" and it does display as such, but for some reason it isnt giving me the option to engage the docking tractor beam on the docking ports. it does show as "docked" though so not sure whats up there

When I use a drone, I can access the Trade Goods menu but of course the drone can't trade...

Is something bugged with the transporter blocks? I have both transporter blocks and transporter module installed, maybe it is preventing normal docking?

I've tried removing my transporter blocks, and it still shows "docked" when I'm close to the station but still cant trade. Cant remove the transporter module without a module merchant or whatever, and dont have one of those nearby..

Finding an Equipment Dock and removing the transporter module allowed me to finally dock and trade goods.

Proper docking and trading of goods or purchasing of modules was impossible until both Transporter Blocks and Transporter Module were totally removed from the ship.

This is unfortunate as it makes mining fighters impossible to use, and of course makes transporters useless overall. Would have been nice to not have to dock super-massive late game ships, but oh well.

nope, I take it back. Still cant trade goods. Can trade equipment, but not goods.

Guess I'll come back after some more patches.

Did you “permanently install” the transporter upgrade? I don’t think it works otherwise.

yes, also completely removed it and still had the problem.

So, just because I’m not seeing this specifically mentioned in your posts... do you have a cargo baton your ship? You can’t trade without one because there’s nowhere on your ship for the items.

That’s the only thing that I can think of that explains it.

Yes, hold full of cargo actually.

I'm pretty sure that in the early game you can still click the trade button even if you can't buy anything, it's strange that the button is disabled.

Would it be possible, that you send me over some screenshots? I tried to reproduce it, but it works fine for me and I can trade. It would really help! :)

it works fine for me on a new game, its just my previous pre-update save that has the problem. I was going to file an actual bug report, but I don't have any repro-steps as it seems to be related to the save file.

Hi Sue!

This was the worst sort of face-palming user error, it has been so long since I played that I forgot the menus scrolled with the scroll-wheel. Just needed to scroll down.

It is a bit of a questionable UI element, there really isn't any visual indication that those menus need to scroll or that there might be more unseen options below your view. I think its pretty traditional to have some sort of vertical scroll-bar for situations like that?

Anyway, thanks for looking into it, sorry for the false report.

Heh, even I didn't think of that and I've run into the same thing myself actually. Glad to see you sorted it out. Certain stations like Equipment docks have enough options on them that it does require scrolling to see everything. The lack of any indication to scroll does make it a bit hard to think about or notice that you can. Funny to see it be such a simple thing, but at least it isn't holding you back any further.
