Xsotan Artifacts
Did they ever add an alternative method of entering the center of the galaxy yet? Some kind of extra artifacts so you're not roped into the current "go down the checklist and everything goes smoothly" artifact hunt? Gathering materials to catch the smuggler was the biggest soul drain I've ever seen in years and I'm hoping something's changed since the last time I made a run for the center.

Cheat yourself a small chunk of Avorion (IIRC 250 is enough), and slap a 1x1 Avorion hyperdrive onto your ship.

This allows you to jump across any rift, including the core barrier.

Yeah, I thought about it, but I'm trying to stay legitimate as long as I can.
There's only the one way. It's not the number of artifacts, but specific named artifacts (see named xsotan asteroids in special near-core ring sectors).

Yeah, I know about needing the II for the II asteroid, etc. I was just hoping there'd be some system like "there's 15 artifacts and 10 asteroids, complete 10 unique story missions for their artifacts to get in" -sort of thing. It's kind of a drag to be required to make a fast cargo ship for the smuggler mission, a rock-plated ship for the MAD mission, etc. then just go down the checklist, making all these different throwaway ships (while keeping all of them powerful enough to keep the hunter guys off you). I feel like having this open ended game railroad you into making all these ships is kinda goofy.

i don't have first hand experience of this. a youtube streamer, a while back, found a wormhole to the center. sorry i don't have a link, it was quite some time ago and i have watched a lot of avorion videos. only thing i remember, it was one of the british sounding dudes. or aussie? not sure. either way, the game does not have a legit way to get to core other than the quests.

Use the same ship, just add some cargo spaces. I killed the MAD guy w/o any rocks but you can always just add some to the front as well for the mission then remove them.

They just buffed the MAD guy so you can't fight him without the rocks anymore.

I did. On veteran difficulty, iIrc. And I can't remember a patch since that.

It is easier just to snipe the MAD ship with Seekers and railguns, if you have enough of them on your ship. The lightning guns probly reach up to 6.8 km, just stay outside its range.
