But this is a game that needs to restarted now and then until you get your feet solidly planted.
thats why i always backup my templates folder or w/e for ea games i guess
did you do an uninstall or anything?
these are stored locally so i have no idea why they would be gone just for an update but i would guess it is possible - they are normally kept here
C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\Avorion\ships
or
C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\Avorion\ships\templates
they may have changed where/how the files are stored but idk, i only got the game just after release, you might look in the game folder and the user folder i gave you, its possible they are still there just in the wrong place but .... its a long shot i would think
reinstalled the game and saw 2 of my bulk transports and a couple of corvette templates still there out of 30+ ships.
i think you have to specifically save the ship by going ctrl+a and save from selection to get a ship to save permanently rather than just using the auto-saves which arent permanent?
funny side of that was i had a titanium thruster block made of iron that needed to be replaced to unbug.
I actually looked it up and it shows that everything in it has 2020 date. SO, even even when it was in there, it has been overwritten at some point. Only thing inside are 5 example templates showing ships built with low quality ore.
they are stored here
C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\Avorion\ships\auto-ships
but they are all named "autosaveXX.xml"
that is not the same as saving them in the editor <- this is what you have to do to find them else where or with proper name
