How to optimize mining fighters?
Ive got 4 trinium mining fighters, but it feels like ive only got one because they keep doing bombing runs on ore. I believe its due to the fighters thinking they are, well, fighters, and not miners. Any way to fix this?

Scrap them and start salvaging. It gives more material, and you can break ships up into easier to shred pieces for your fighters.

But for mining, no. All AI ships do "bombing" runs, so either manual control, or build more fighters to speed up the process.

it was just wierd because when piloting them its not like they cant slow down

my mining carrier has 120 fighters on it eff of 64 avorion goto a fighter factory and build your own when you choose the design of the fighter from your saves or build a fighter it has to be 200 blocks or less then take you best mining turret and select it once the fighters picture appears in the box then you can adjust its flight attributes such durability,manuverablity ,speed and size .once you have done that make sure you have room in your hanger or you will lose it i lost 1 that had 81% eff it sucked to loose it .i posted screen shots of some of my fighters i have built https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198359075819/screenshots/

Yeah, set your fighter speeds to slow when you build them and maximize the turret range to be the most efficient with mining fighters

i advise against setting lower speeds only because i did that on 1 of my first that i built and it just took too long to recall them when you want to leave the sector.But to each his own

When you build the mining drones, you want to max speed and maneuverability, They will still do the bombing runthing but th etime they arent minign gets reduced. And also you need more than one squad of them, I build at least 5 squads, and preferably all 10 on a dedicated minign rig.

no because they move between asteroids faster.

That is the trade off. Slower transport times. Personally I don’t use fighters for mining, I use a fleet. 5 or so custom mining ships strip mine much faster in my opinion, and are much cheaper to start operations with.

I agree to this in part. The reason why mining fighters are better is simply because you can make more. You have to find or build turrets to put on mining ships propper.

To that end, I usually make mining frigates with a full compliment of mining/salvaging fighters to do the work.

Also, I fogot to mention that using upgrade points on non-combat fighters is generally a bad idea, as it costs 2-10 times more per fighter.

I really do wish that there was a way to change the logic internally for fighters used for salvaging/mining operations to maximize their effectiveness - fast flight between targets and lining up, slow down (maybe half speed) while firing, then back to fast speed to maneuver and line up again. That would eliminate the conundrum of which way to build them when it comes to speed choices.
