Captured a Sector ... Do the gates change ownership at any point ?

Captured a system with gates ... seemed like the jump gates ownership was based on the faction that owned the gate's destination ... so since I have captured a sector can I expect the gate to change (seems silly to have to pay 10k to jump into a sector I control) ... couldn't find much info on this ... thanks in advance.

the only good i found the gates to be was getting friendly rep i don't use them

if only they were a useful form of negotiations, yeah, use them as long as you have to, they're only for when you need the game to be noob friendly still really or long distance.
