Building A Smugglers Hideout - is it Worth It?
Hey, was doing quite a lot of smuggling recently and was thinking of building/creating a smugglers hideout (In the galaxy i have another couple stations in). Was wondering tho, if I do build this, since I'm the owner of it, would I still have to pay the 50% price-of-the-item to unbrand a stolen item? Or would it be free or at least decreased in price since I own the station?

YES i bulit mine to save travel time now i don't have to jump out of the core to get rid of stolen stuff and it did seem cheaper to own it and exchange stuff .

Lol. Might I suggest starting a new file and using console commands to give you the resources and credits to make a Smuggler's Hideout? If you can, put it in the same sector as a generated (NPC) hideout. You can use the same seed ID you play on now so you can find smugglers in the same place as your actual game.

To be honest mate Im just suprised that this thread is still being added to... having been asked... 2 years ago.

Since then I've learned that in mulitplayer, you do get payed a percentage of the cost that other people pay unbranding at your station (And from what I gather from a friend, this also works in single player - You pay the full amount, but you get refunded a portion of it). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

How to create a smuggler hideout AFK farm:
Step 1: Find accelerator factory cluster with factory close to jump in point that is close to barrier or inside barrier.
Step 2: pack the station with with the best 15 tractor beam upgrades you have and place the station close to a factory at the jumping in point.
Step 3: get a smuggler captain or illegal goods transport license on the station and enable the station to pick up stolen goods.
Step 4: Xsotan attack with large fleet and wipe out some trading ship(s) carrying goods within the smuggler hideout pickup radius.
Step 5: unbrand stolen goods by making a station dock to itself by removing a tractor beam upgrade and installing a transporter software and transporter block and unbrand the goods.
Step 6: sell the stolen goods back to factory or other stations for profit
Step 7: remove transporter software and install the best tractor beam upgrade you have or can find.
Step 8: go back to step 4 to repeat the process:)

You DEFINITELY have to pay to unbrand in your own smuggler station... I learned my lesson on that. Lol

It was a good idea to try though. It would save MILLIONS if it got rid of that unbrand fee.

Oh well, money is easy to come by anyway. I have a sector with about 40 stations and it makes millions of credits every 5 minutes:)
