when you build it at a ship yard when on build ship mode click the with crew and captain so you can move it before you transform it to a station

Its lame that you cant found a station like you can found a ship, and hire the crew like you can when you found a mine :steamfacepalm::steamsad::steamfacepalm:

not really when you click the button for with crew and captain you get the required crew for the size of the ship then once you found the station you can go into it and hire crew for the station from the station

I understand that, but you always need a shipyard for that (gl on finding one near where you want to build your stations), you dont need a shipyard for founding a ship or a mine, you should b able to found a station everywhere like you can do with a ship, and you should b able to request crew on the spot like you can do after you found a mine.

It is silly logic.

Unless the first station you built is the Shipyard. Then you dont really have to go anywhere. You can assign your reconstruction to it, you can build as many station founders as you need and you can hire the crew and keep the commodities on it while you develop the sector. Shipyard is generally a pretty decent faction headquarters until the latter would actually gain any significant functionality of its own.

Well technically you'd first need a ship to turn into a station, so that you're properly charged depending on the station's fuctionality. Of course it is also possible to design the pathway where you first create a generic station, which you can then upgrade into a something more advanced, but from one side you'd not be able to move or align it when its done, and from another side you'd have to found a ship, then turn it into a generic station, then you'd need to upgrade it into a factory or whatever.

Maybe its a just a balance design decision, that prevent players from casually building stations all over the place on a whim, which is not exactly equal to doing so with ships. Personally I don't mind that I'm required to escort a ship into a sector before I can build a station there, rather than just fiding a sector with several potential mines and building all over it from the get-go. Either way, its hard to tell if its a technical necessity or a temporary solution.
