Raw Salvaging lasers vs Normal Salvaging lasers
Hello is it better to have raw salvaging lasers, even though the salvage will take up space in cargo, or is it best to get normal salvaging. Another question, is it better to have a swarm of salvaging fighters instead of turrets?

Normal salvaging is better since you don't need to refine the ore but if you have a very good r laser with high efficiency you may want to use that instead.

Salvaging fighter swarms are good. You'll have more of them than the amount of turrets you'll have on a ship.

My personal decision would be to have the R-Lasers from the start.
It really is funny to build yourself a 50 to 100 cargo titanium ship with 4 slots and gain 2.5k-5k ressources every time you visit the depot.

Dont make the mistake to equip those miners with the mining module. They wont return to the position they destroyed the Asteroid and will not load up left ore.

In my opinion the mining module and the hidden asteroids are ment for real players that join a really "old" galaxy and don t know where to get their material from.

I saw other posts recently say they donbenefit from the mining systems. Wonder if devs could comment.
Would you suggest a cargo expansion module then or more turrets?

i suggest dedicated mining ships designed for only one purpose ^^

The Mining Module allows AI ships to find and mine dense asteroids. If on a player ship, mining fighters will see and mine dense asteroids. Not sure about AI carriers.

As to R-Lasers with Salvaging/Mining, it really depends on how involved you want to be in it. I agree with Terso, and would prefer it from the start, unfortunately we're stuck with the old lasers until we find the R's.

R-Lasers return way more materials per asteroid/wreck, but its a more involved process. You have to take cargo/refining into account. Fleet management if using AI ships can be tedious. Its more time and more effort, but the payoff, strictly from a numbers perspective, is way worth it.

AI Salvaging is a love hate thing for me, whether its salvage ships, or salvage fighters. They do a lot of lucrative work for you, but they leave pieces of wreckage all over the place with resources and equipment in it.

And for that matter even AI miners leave chunks of asteroids around the system.

Anyway, I prefer doing salvaging myself with a ship built for it. R-Lasers equipped.

It just depends on how you want to play the game, really.

I'm glad I finally figured out how to string commands on my miners to mine, refine, loop....thank the good Lord I found that :)
brigadon May 28, 2019 @ 8:08pm
So how do you do it?
Lord Beavis May 28, 2019 @ 8:32pm
Shift+Click the orders like in a RTS.

Cool, Thanks, does the loop repeat or do you have to set it up again?

Hold shift and click the icon on the far right side.
Keep in mind this system is new and very buggy/not refined (:steamsalty:) at the moment.

The loop at the end makes them repeat the orders so I do mine, refine, loop in that order and they keep mining until full, then refine (as long as there is a resource Depot in that sector) then they go back to mining

The salvaging one is not working....salvage will make them piss off relations with the group in that sector for some reason. And no I am not referring to when they need a license at a scrap yard. I am referring to a regular sector. So like after a bunch of bandits die I tell a ship to go salvage ... Next thing I know my relationship keeps getting hammered badly but if I salvage it does not happen. No idea why I have not let it run long enough to watch what they are doing.....does not take long to lose a couple thousand points!

Raw tend to have far higher efficiency which give a lot more overall ore, at least for miners.

I really appreciate all of your feedback!
