"Failed to initialize steam API, please restart steam and try again." Help starting Avorion please?

I know its not restarting steam, and I updated steam and tried again. Its not updating avorion I checked, but when I start it, it says "Running" for around 3 seconds, closes, and opens that message in the title. I've restarted my computer, and even uninstalled Avorion and re-installed it. Nothing works that I try. A little help?

This is a pretty common steam issue, I've had it happen to several other titles before.

As I recall I never did anything special that worked beyond gettin annoyed and trying again much later.

So while I'm of no immediate help- you're not alone and its not specific to this title :/

Could try verifying the cashe integrity(Though I don't imagine this would help as you've reinstalled), manually opting to use another patch such as the beta branch, or running steam and/or avorion in administrator mode.
Usually all that is needed is to restart steam/system so I don't know. Hope you can manage to get it to work.

Same problem here. Have re-installed, and restarted, still says fails.

Close Steam. Open Task Manager. Close anything related to steam. Steam bootstrap, etc.

Start Steam as administrator by right clicking the steam icon and choosing that option.

This is the fix for this error taken from google pages and forum threads.

You can do a research if you want too. Google with terms "Failed to initialize steam API".

I just tried your recommendation, but it brings up the same message. It only happens with Avorion though, so I tried uninstalling the game, then closing down all steam processes, then running as admin and reinstalling, but it brings up the same issue.

Unsure if this is a Steam problem or Avorion referencing the wrong files? I haven't played the game in a while, but I would think uninstalling then reinstalling would fix any path issues that might happen.
