Manual Root select
This game DESPERATELY needs a manual root select. I can't count the number of times it's bit me that the root block's some random block I can't even find. I've been making my own fighters recently and, whoa! The trails aren't coming from the engine? DOH! THE ROOT BLOCK IS SOME RANDOM TRIANGLE OFF THE THE SIDE, THANKS GAME! Now I have to rebuild the entire thing! It's so much fun rebuilding things because you forgot the P.I.T.A rootblock ordeal.

Um your game auto saves your build if you scan through you will find your previous save, and question you do know safe mode prevents you from deleting that all important root block right? Also its possible to completely control your root block build the first block of your ship off the root block then delete the root, that first block then becomes your new root block.

Yes because every build is built off of a .5x.5 block. All that the game needs is the ability to manually set the root block. That's it. It's one GUI button that says set as root block. Autosave? What for? To change the root block it has to be the VERY last block on the build and you build off from there, and if you've already built it with a botched root block, you need to rebuild it. That's the only way to change the root. Where does autosave come in? And yes I'm aware that safemode prevents the deletion of that wretched starting block. That's why it's never on and that block is removed. Your mentioning of autosave still puzzles me though.

I guess i am confused by what you mean by botched root block?

He means the root block of your ship, as in that starter block you get when you first start building a ship in the game. Sometimes, it gets hard to determine which is the root block of your ship, especially after deleting the initial one and you've already placed thousands of other blocks.

I've never tried building custom fighters before, but from the conversation, I'll assume that the light trail the fighters leave behind stems from this root block, and what Raio experiences is that let's say you have an X-wing, and the root block turned out to be on one of the wing tips, so the trail comes out from there instead of the main engines, thus a "botched" root block (location).

I read it as the thing Raio refered to as "trail" from the root block, most likely being the lines that reference the X, Y and Z axis when the build is in mirror mode.

Further more, if you have an issue where you dont like the current location of your root block, you can change it. Although it's not a simple solution, it is fairly simple to do and many times it's better than starting an entire build over from scratch. You place a block in the center of the rootblock and then making sure not to touch another block, build a bridge of blocks leading to the center of the block you wish the root block to be an attach the last block. Now go back to the current location of the root block and delete any block that it is currently touching (leaving of course the newly built bridge of blocks). Now turn off safe mode and delete the current root block, this transfers it to the block bridge you built. Now slowly delete each block until you reach the location of where you want the root block to be. Once you reach it turn back on safe mode and test it. Try to delete it and if wont let you, then you've sucessfuly moved it :)

Kurt that sounds almost as easy as saying to hell with it and starting over.

Derpsuper++ hit the nail on the head. Fighter trails do infact stem from the rootblock's location, and yes, it was offcenter a few times. Another thing I noticed is this game also needs a way to 'choose' which block is used in a copy+pasta to PLACE it, I had to jury rig something on the build to place an engine pod I had made for it outside of the build and it wanted to place it via the far corner -.-
