The advantages don't matter. The game ALWAYS opens up a server whether single or multiplayer. That's currently the only way the game works.

Yep same as minecraft but theres big advantages to a dedicated 24/7 server over singleplayer with mods, quaries active etc.
Just wondering if the same is true of avorion.

Not really. The most you get is 5 or so minutes during which a non-player-occupied sector will still be loaded. Ships under your control won't extend that time.

I always load and run multiplayer Lan , so my neigbor can play with me. We also sit and camp sectors to generate factory and mine income.

sadly my neighbors do not share my hobby, ones hobby is to complain about any noise i may make when i am trying to unwind after work (im not a noisy person) anothers hobby is to see how loud and distorted he can get his music when he gets up (i work nights) ...none are gamers, so i should be ok there :(
my mates are console gamers :(

you say about camping sectors, does the game not generate income if your not in a sector theu are in (im guessing it would use a rough calculation when your not about otherwise they would be somewhat useless, but then minecraft has that annoying habbit so you end up needing chunk loaders)

..it doesn't yet, but it's coming soon (the next large patch). It will make empire building alot more useful.

Sectors currently do not run when there are no players within. They are working on it though
