Trinium - What's it good for?
I have a heavely armed Corvet class ship made out of Titanium (Armor and Engines) and Naonite (Internal components). When ever I start converting peices to Trinium, be it my generator, batteries, engins or armor - my states go down. Armor get heavier but fewer HP for the ship. Sheilds consum less energy but provide less sheilds. I though Trinium was suppose to be better than titanium and naonite? If not then what is its purpose?

IIRC its the first tier with fighter bays. It provides better armor plating with less weight. Certain materials perform better than others for certain blocks, it may be a good idea to play around with the results for each material to see which you prefer. Some are no-brainers, like Avorion genny and shields, but others are not as clear - like cargo bays. You want to choose the lightest material for those (which I believe is trinium). There is some info on google about this.

Also just in case- keep in mind it'll display positive gains in Red not Green text, as it displays the difference vs the previous material, were you to undo the swap.

So when upgrading blocks, those red numbers are benifical.

/\ That, also Xanion the next material has no armor blocks. So in that stage Xanion is great for powered blocks but you'll probably still want some armor. I also use trinium for cargo bays since it's very light, and since those blocks are so big making them light is important.

Who needs armor blocks, all materials have rock with it's OP'd HP:cost ratio!

(ok, so it weighs a ton, but it also doesn't require additional mechanics to support it...)

offset by the requirement for more crew to man maneuvering systems to compensate for the weight multiplier. a large 0.1 thickness armor plate does the job just fine.

Or you know, just use \shielding and you won't have to worry about armor which saves on weight compared to armor.

Noone mentioned yet that Trinium is the lightest of all materials? Or just me missing the line?

EDIT: nvm, MIYUKI did

lol?

ever heard of shieldpenetration trait of turrets?

armor > rocks if the enemy uses railguns. i dont care that my hull is intact is railguns still dmg my techblocks.

armors offer the best deal of defense against all kinds of traits and all kinds of turrets at the cost of price and hp pool compared to rocks. but to get the same level of protection you'll need a minimum of 4 layers of stone plating to block most of the railguns effectivly (the blockpenetration of those ellas is about 4-6 blocks). the ressources you might save by doing so will be used up by techblocks to provide enough movement and rotation.

trinium is mainly used to reduce weight of your build and the availability of before mentioned armor blocks.

the game in its current state tries to support the use of multimaterial builds.

iron and naonite are more or less default materials (iron in generel hullwise and naonite techblockwise).

iron: default material
titanium: improved ration of hp/weight
naonite: techblock access
trinium: leightweight material; lower hp values compared to other materials
xanion: techblock material, relativly low weight
ogonit: high hp values but also high weight; focus is hull for non-agile ships (battleships classes)
Avorion: improved stats with higher weight compared to xanion. the main use is the (hidden) jumpdrive trait, that avorion isnt affected by time/space distortions.

what material is best to use depends on the situation you have and the stats youre looking for.

Ah, railguns. Forgot about those, probably because it's really rare for an NPC to have decent %penetrate shield railguns.

Honestly, Trinium is the greatest resource in the game. It's super lightweight, has good HP, and covers all of the important components really. Other than hardpoints for higher tier weapons, alot of my endgame ships have been made of mostly Trinium.

The real question is: What is the point of titanium?

Damn! I feel like an idiot now. Thank you for pointing of that Red can be good.

Also thank you to everyone else. You have some great tips in here!

Titanium is something you can mine even with the drone which is a vast improvement over iron.

Iron's purpose is to be the worst material in the galaxy, useable primarily in station contruction or by bottom-feeders who are having a hard time finding titanium.
