Can someone clear this up right now: Radar and Scanner.
Which one is for the map and which one is for the sector your flying in. Or is there some crazy cross connection between them!?!?!?!??!?

Scanner to scan sectors radar to scan objects in your current sector? NO? Nobody?

wy dont you just try 1 at a time so you can see the diference is that so hard to try?

lol...Scanner increases your scan range. When you target a ship within your system, notice how it just says "hull and shield 100%"? Well when you get close enough, the full details of the ship like the number of hull and shield remaining is then viewable, same with the amount of omnicron (Firepower) the ship has. With an upgraded scanner, the full information of a ship can be seen from a farther distance, allowing you to see what you are up against before you are blasted into the void. Also helps picking priority targets.

Rader (Correct me if im wrong): This device shows sectors on the universe map that contain some unknown objects. These unknown objects can be moused over for a general description.

These radars will have bonuses that apply in the galaxy map. The bonuses are radar and deep scan range. Radar range is essentially the distance that energy signatures can be detected. Deep scan range is the distance that mass signatures can be detected.

Heres a link that should solve your problems...

I pretty much thought this was the case but the gamepedia wiki is actually confusing in that int he description of a quest the scanner is incorrectly referrerd to as the radar, thats what got me confused about it. But also even without a scanner modual equipped I could still detect green blips thats how I got even more confused about the whole thing. Thanks for clarifying tho.

And yes cdnr1(hl) it was hard to try them because I was not getting clear indications of what was really doing what.

Oh, you will always detect green blips with or without radar/scanner upgrades

The wiki is a bit outdated, but the deepscanner is primarily used for detecting sectors with mass, which will pop up on the galaxy map as yellow blips.

I had a mission to explore an unknown sector, I flew to said sector, and never got the credit for it, did I need to cover all the territory in the sector, or just fly in? im con-fuss-ed.
