Brake Thrust
I Hate how bad my brake thrust feels becaues no matter how many thrusters i add it still just has really bad drift does anyone know how this thruster system works and how i should use it for my ship

if you are opted into the beta of this game, use directional thrusters to boost up your brake thrust . incase some of you havent figured it out yet, yhou can change the effects of both thrusters and possibly engines on your ship simply by rotating them . Depending on which way they face, you can get different efects for pitch, yaw, roll, and brake plus velocity

When will they the beta go public

incase you didnt know, only the flat surface area makes a difference for break / directional. So a large square thruster will be the same as a flat square thruster, with the same surface area facing forward. So, what you can do is cheat the system, by making a very thin large flat thruster at the front, and then stack multiple of these together, so in the same normal square block you can usually fit 5x the same amount of break thrust. Once you get used to builing the stacked flat super thrusters, you can make ships that handle better.

Thank you so much i just tried it and it stops so much faster thanks :D

Would be a bad idear to start making the flat trusters as they have already been changed how they work.
I would recommend playing the beta branch, u just turn that on in your game options in steam.

Thruster stacks have been nerfed heavily in the beta, not much use in building them now if they wont work properly the second the patch goes live. Also intertial dampeners (made out of either iron or avorian) add rediculous amounts of braking thrust, i got my decently large ship from around 7m/s/s to over 30m/s/s brake power

Just keep in mind you'll lose a lot of resources when the beta gets pushed to main, if you're relying on thin thrusters (the update will rework how much those thin thrusters cost).

Can we use reversed engines for break thrusters? I was thinking about trying this today but haven't had a chance.

No. You cannot reverse your engines. You will, however, gain access to artificial friction devices if you switch to the beta build, and they supply a fairly decent amount of break thrust for their size and mass.

Or you can just flip and burn. Thrusters are for fine movement. Engines are for speed and breaking. There are directional thrusters in the beta that you can put in front to help your braking, though. The blocks that help you spin around and slow you down faster are just technomagical stuff for when you can't figure out thrusters.
