Okay, I admit defeat in my search... how do I turn off safe mode?

I really need to get a couple tidbits off my ship that aren't cooperating. :)

It's in the side bar on the left, one of several radio buttons above the command selections (select, drag select, delet, paint, etc).

There is literally a check box, right to the left of your screen in build mode that says "safe mode"... How are so many people not noticing that??
