find a wrecked ship and make it yours

is there a way to make a wreck your ship? i found a system with a ton of wrecks floating around and most are in one piece. just want to know if there is a way to take one of the ships. there were a few cool looking ships.

Those are generally referred as salvage yards, you can salvage wrecks with salvage turrets.

you can also find abdonned ships they are claimable

how do you claim a wrecked ship?

You can only claim it if the name of the ship is "Abandoned Ship." They're a lot rarer than standard wreckage, and all you do is get within 0.2KM and interact with it. All the ones I've seen also have an item stash right next to them.

Wrecked ship, not possible most likely, abandoned as banana said, just fly close and target it the same way you do claimable asteroids.

I found a whole ass station that's just sitting there in the middle of nowhere, how do I make it my station? It's a huge one too, like a proper shipyard. Do I need to get a boarding shuttle or something?

Only very rare spawning ships can be claimed like you are hoping for. They will generally only spawn in asteroid fields on their own or with a secret stash. I don’t believe stations ever do this. You’d have to find a fully functional station that you can fight, bring down to 30% health, and then board to claim. Of course, the process of fighting it to 30% will destroy many blocks that will be gone permanently, you’ll be saddled with a huge repair bill, and you’d need to refound the station to actually use it for anything.
