There is not one, as far as I know, however you can place a rock on your W key. Goodluck!

pressing F2 switches to keyboard mode which turns the ship with WASD and has Z and C for throttle. I mainly use this mode because it's easier to fire broadsides with it.

Yep, I love that mode.
I love circling asteroids with it. Dont judge me, I might have enjoyed mining in EVE online a bit too much.

It's worth a try. Thank you very much!

after 7 years still not added a simple cruise control without changing the control mode between mouse and keyboard? its frustating to keep holding W most of us want a speed slider to + - and stay on that speed

a game on long travel like this should have it since start

You can always open your strategy map with N and order your own ship to a location. This is undoubtedly the easiest way. Just a few clicks and one press of the space bar and you're on your way. Once you learn the little tricks for manipulating the Strategic view and setting ship groups to number keys, you can move any amount of ships around a system with ease, your flagship or preferred vessel included. I don't manually pilot any ship, any time outside of special circumstances. Doesn't take anything away from the experience of sitting in your ship and watching space roll by except the W key.

Or the alternative F2 controls work great if you're into the manual experience or the situation warrants it and they have a throttle already included.

There are also mods that introduce more sensible system generation so that systems with destinations 100km+ apart are the exception and not the rule. Some improve asteroid field distribution greatly too. xAvorion comes to mind but there are a few others I believe.

DrEkpyroticus is correct: Strategy Mode does offer a "go here button." It's not what OP is asking for, however.

Whatever the use case, Avorion does not have support for this kind of feature. BUT...you can get around it if you have access to any USB device that has an analog output (a slider works great for it). You can download a third-party KBM emulation tool such as JoyToKey, map the analog input to whatever key that is, then move the slider. As long as that slider is sending signal, the game will interpret it as if the throttle key is held down.

I use this method with my Thrustmaster T16000M FCS pack. I have the throttle slider mapped to the ship's forward throttle key and just move it forward. Move it back to zero to stop moving. Couldn't be easier.

Side Note: The above solution using the Strategy Mode screen also works for Orders. You can right-click on a station to send that ship to dock with that station, for example. You can attack ships this way. You can mine specific Asteroids this way (unless they removed that).

A lot of useful stuff exists in that one screen. I encourage OP to try it.
