What difference does difficulty do?

As the title says, what does the difficulty setting actually change.

No clue, my best guess is probably how fast other ships scale up as you get closer to the galaxy center. On normal near the third tier (green), ships were only around 200-400 omicrons in damage output, where my big titanium ship is probably at 1000.

the higher dificulty the more damage ai's do to you, it increases by 10% or 20 i think each level, but im not certain, i think i saw the scale somewhere in the avorion homepage forums

Increased damage of AI ships to player

In percent of actual damage capable
Beginner: Remains at 2.5%
Easy: From 5% to 7.5%
Normal: From 10% to 20%
Veteran: From 20% to 40%
Difficult: From 40% to 60%
Hard: From 75% to 80%
Insane: Remains at 100% damage

Yeah, the name might be chosen really badly.

The name gets changed to abortion because Google thinks you misspelled it :P
Sometimes Google trying to be helpful causes more harm than good, adding "Avorion" with quotation marks allows you to override Google's helpfullness with the Abortion crap.

Had the same problem looking for videos of the game before I bought it.
