Any official statement for the fate of the game on GOG?
Knowing that the beta was finally coming I checked the forums on GOG (where I've had the game since april 2016) and in on of the posts I read that the devs are pulling out of updating the game on that platform.

This information was however in an email that had been copied by another forum user rather than a dev or other wolcen representative posting something official. Not in itself unusual as the devs seemed to forget the game was in their indev program and the forums were/are pretty much a ghost town.

Having done some googling and checking on the discord server it seems that the only official statments or announcements are about the beta coming to steam with no mention of GOG.

Which leads to my question of is there official word from anyone at wolcen studios about whats going on with the game there.

it's a bad move
i'm pretty sure they use steam api for multiplayer and it's a huge reason behind this decision.

That post is from GOG's side not wolcen studios.

Currently in two minds about this as on the one side it was a game that grabbed me as having a lot of potential, the skill web hooked me into PoE and in a similar way the wheel caught my eye enough to draw me in.

While on the other is the feeling of having been dumped rather unceremoniously so why should I continue to support the game either by jumping through hoops to get a steam key or even talking up the game to folk I know that like the genre.

I was accepting of the fact that in 2016 it was very much an alpha and would be a long time coming to fruition. I even accepted that the patching might be delayed a bit or short run beta wouldn't arrive on gog but to pull the game without official word is something that's much harder to swallow.

Suppose we should all be thankful they didn't dump both outlets for a golden handjob from epic.

It's sad they removed the game from GOG. I was going to buy it there for a full price at the release. Guess they don't want my money. If it comes in the form of a monthly bundle eventually I may add it to my Steam aka free/cheap keys aggregator.

The biggest problem you have with GoG, is that it is really easy to pirate games on GoG. GoG games are pretty much a pirates paradise. If the developers decided not to release the game on GoG, I would understand why. It's basically detramental to making decent profits due, specifically, to how easily games can be pirated on GoG.

Yes. Because BUYING games on GOG is the foremost method of pirates, to steal games...

On topic: nobody forced the team, to put their game on GOG. But they did, and the paying customers over there deserved to be treated fairly, as the customers here...

Ah yes, only GOG games get pirated. I forgot no one has ever been able to pirate steam games. Makes you wonder why publishers even use Denuvo when Steam is so good at stopping games from being pirated.

While it may be true that its easier to pirate games sold on gog due to the fact that once paid for you actually own the game and can keep a permanent copy of the installer (unlike steam) the assumption that the devs pulling out of gog without any word is down to piracy isn't helping much.

If devs want to make a decent profit on a game they just need to make a game worth buying and do their best to communicate with their playerbase. I don't pirate games myself but I undertsand that some folk do because they're ♥♥♥♥♥ and others because they want to demo a game and will actually buy it later on.

What they've done to those like myself who supported the game on gog will potentially hurt them more than piracy ever would if you consider that walking away from the game happened already so whats to say that they won't just abandon the game entirely somewhere before its released.

Anyway this thread is about getting some sort of public feedback or explaination from wolcen studios about why they decided to abandon the game on gog so please try and avoid talk of pirating the game as that will likely get it locked.
