i'm pretty sure they use steam api for multiplayer and it's a huge reason behind this decision.
That post is from GOG's side not wolcen studios.
Currently in two minds about this as on the one side it was a game that grabbed me as having a lot of potential, the skill web hooked me into PoE and in a similar way the wheel caught my eye enough to draw me in.
While on the other is the feeling of having been dumped rather unceremoniously so why should I continue to support the game either by jumping through hoops to get a steam key or even talking up the game to folk I know that like the genre.
I was accepting of the fact that in 2016 it was very much an alpha and would be a long time coming to fruition. I even accepted that the patching might be delayed a bit or short run beta wouldn't arrive on gog but to pull the game without official word is something that's much harder to swallow.
Suppose we should all be thankful they didn't dump both outlets for a golden handjob from epic.
On topic: nobody forced the team, to put their game on GOG. But they did, and the paying customers over there deserved to be treated fairly, as the customers here...
If devs want to make a decent profit on a game they just need to make a game worth buying and do their best to communicate with their playerbase. I don't pirate games myself but I undertsand that some folk do because they're ♥♥♥♥♥ and others because they want to demo a game and will actually buy it later on.
What they've done to those like myself who supported the game on gog will potentially hurt them more than piracy ever would if you consider that walking away from the game happened already so whats to say that they won't just abandon the game entirely somewhere before its released.
Anyway this thread is about getting some sort of public feedback or explaination from wolcen studios about why they decided to abandon the game on gog so please try and avoid talk of pirating the game as that will likely get it locked.
