Crash when trying to record gameplay
With any game recording software running, if i try to launch Fallout 4 i get a crash to the desktop. if i close the recording software the game starts normally. if i Alt Tab out of the game and then try to reopen any game recording software the game immediately crashes. Any ideas? i've used FRAPS, DXTORY, Action!

I've tried borderless, low/medium/high/ultra settings. Downgraded DxTory, upgraded DxTory, tried different settings people have suggested on YouTube. I've looked at other games where people have reported det same/similar problem, and no ducking luck. As soon as I start any other game whatsoever, I record just fine. But Fallout 4 just refuses to let me even see the menu before I CTD. If anyone has any theory or possible solution to this, I'll be very grateful. :)

So, I don't know if this will work for you -- I didn't write the software for this purpose, but... you could try:

It's one extra piece of software between the game and whatever the heck is wrong with video recording software on your computer. It might be enough to keep it from crashing.

If nothing else, it will give you a diagnostic log in logs/dxgi.log before it crashes that might give some insight.

Have you tried Nvidia's Shadowplay? Should record if you set it to record desktop. Start up shadowplay, set to manual recording, start the game, hit the hotkeys (ALT+F9 - default) when your playing.

I revalidated my game and that seems to have solved it. Found this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNy0M5XkyxU . Allthough somewhat unrelated to my problem (or totally), this fixed 4 files and my vanilla F4 is now recordable :)
Thanks Kaidaien and Middleclaw for suggestions. If I mod my game, I may update on if this causes issues.

Works perfectly with mods now too. Can only seam to record at 47/49 fps but I'm speculating in this having something to do with the v-sync because uncapping it lets me record at 60fps but bugs the game out xD might also very well be my dxtory settings :)

Shadowplay let me start the game, but didnt let me record.

Have an AMD card so no Shadowplay. If i remove my mods and go Vanilla i can record, will slowy add mods backand see which one is killing it for me.

Guessing you re-validated your game with steam?
