Ffx pc remastered crash (unsolved)
FFX was working flawlessly for me until I attempted to enter basaid village for the first time. Then it changes to the black screen and crashes without warning.

Probably out of VRAM. When the game runs out of VRAM it crashes silently without presenting an error message. I just encountered this while debugging on my laptop.

The game is very likely to run out of VRAM on a lot of systems because it runs in windowed mode no matter what you do. Alt+Tabbing in/out is playing with fire, VRAM requirements temporarily double while this is going on. But it can run out of memory for various other reasons too.

This may not be resolved until I finish my exclusive fullscreen mode fix.

How long will that take?

No idea, you can use it now if you don't need support for alt+tab.

EnableFullscreen=true and then press Alt+Enter

Question on your mod since i use the steam controller would i just need to remove the sony button layout section form the ini to show the standard controller layout?

Huh?

There's no section specific to PlayStation controllers, and you don't want to run the mod with XInput support turned off (which DOES require that you map the buttons).

If you're just referring to the button icons, then select one of the TextureSets that float your boat. The ones that ship with the mod are all in the Guide.

XboxOne buttons are probably the closest in appearance to a Steam controller.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

No, problems with their engine are not things that a typical end-user can fix :-\

So, can I just not progress any further no matter what? There's nothing at all I can do?

Only thing you can really do is report the problem to the link i provided and hopefully it'll get addressed in a update.

Open your NVIDIA Control Panel and make sure the FFX game is using your NVIDIA graphics card, and NOT your onboard graphics. It defaults to the wrong one, at least it did for me.
Ben, what kind of motherboard do you have?

This worked for me also, but i also did something else though i'm not sure if it made any difference. I used borderless gaming, so i could be fullscreen without being fullscreen. I read that people were saying how not even FFX is fullscreen when it's fullscreen so i thought maybe it would become fullscreen if i used borderless gaming to make it fullscreen when its not really fullscreen.

havent crashed since

How come people always assume that's enough information?

Anyways, i did some googling, and it looks like your model has the Geforce 9300M GS 256MB, which doesn't have enough VRAM to run the game, as Kalaiden already said.
(512MB VRAM Minimum, stated on store page)

His fullscreen fix might work.
