The best use I had for him was recommended to me years ago: using his Self Destruct for easy wins in the Monster Arena.
So yeah, he's basically at his most usefulness when he's blowing himself up.

Honestly, I love Khimari. I can't wait for the game to finish installing so I can play him again.
Yuna and Khimari end up being a lower level since their unique situation is rarer (and non-existant in Khimari's case) I remember a few playthroughs where he hadn't gained a single AP from mi'hen highroad until Mt. Gagazet.
Back years ago on PS2, while playing with a friend, I accidently hit Kimahri with Wakka's T.K.O. (Stonetouch) before Djose Temple. Apparently it technically does physical damage simulatenously, since we both watched Kimahri petrified and shattered before our eyes. We burst out laughing and decided it would become a routine thing any time he was switched into the formation.
Also, I hope that was an 8-bit Theater reference, because <3.

Yuna is admittedly a beast black mage.
Top: Tidus, Yuna, Rikku, Wakka - If you want to do endgame content, stick with these four and learn how to use Rikku's overdrives.
Mid: Auron, Kimahri
Trash: Lulu - Her attack animation sucks balls. Her overdrives suck both Wakka's balls.
This is interesting.
Well, he just learned Self Destruct so we'll see how it goes once I get to Monster Arena. Thanks for the tip.
