Arranged or Original Soundtrack?
I've never played this game so which one should I use?

Explain how ditching the harmonica in Tidus' Theme is superior, or how Besaid Island is better, or how ditching the siren-like part of one of the boss themes (if I recall) is superior. I'd say most of the tracks are better, but to say it's nostalgia goggles to say any of the originals are better is just plain not true when it's possible to outright describe the differences. They are not all faithful remasters of the songs. Some of them are changed.

Tidus' Theme missing the harmonica feels like half the soul of the song is ripped out to me.

I like both, but overall the Arranged is much nicer. Even though "Fight With Seymour" doesn't have as much punch to it, it does feel a little more like a live performance, even almost Falcom Sound Team-ish.

I do wish Tsuyoshi Sekito and Kenichiro Fukui had done the remixes for the faster songs in the OST, but I'm totally happy.

It's an arrangement. They removed some instruments and added other instruments. Doesn't mean it's bad. If you just get used to the instruments used in the older version then it's nostalgia.

And screw the harmonica. I'd rather have erhu, violin, and acoustic guitar.

But it's not nostalgia goggles then if you acknowledge they are different. Not everyone is going to like the same thing. I will probably use the original tracks this time since I played with the new ones on the PS3. If a mod comes around to choose on a track by track basis I will do that though.

I use original. Personally I think every original song is better than the rearranged except for 1, which is the last Seymour (Seymour Omnis) fight. The rearranged version of that is much better than the original in my opinion.

It really depends on which song for me. I didn't look into it yet to see how difficult it would be to choose for each one.

In particular they butchered Tidus' theme by removing the harmonica. I also prefer Via Purifico if I spelled that right in the original version far more than the arranged version. I don't feel the piano version of that song matches the dungeon and I feel the original song in game has a much better feel as a game song than what they replaced it with.

Some like Yuna's Determination I really like both versions.

Gotta honestly say that running on PCSX2 at 4K looks better.
Did you disable DPI scaling for this version, which you need to do for that?

Oh wait, you don't even own it. Nevermind...........

lol, not at all possible to have seen something without owning it....

Your comment convinced me to go original.

Some tracks I do like the remakes of. You can always toggle back and forth to see how each area sounds too. I'm just going original since I used the new tracks on the PS3.

Opinion so far... I like the arranged tracks, EXCEPT for the regular battle theme.

Depends on preference, honestly. The original one is generally softer and more subtle, where the Arranged one has stronger melodies. I'd say the former is generally better for storytelling, while the latter is better for more tense moments and combat.

Overall, I personally like the Arranged one better.
All the cutscenes use very soft music no matter what soundtrack i choose o.O unless a bossfight is just about to happen. I love the new soundtrack. I prefer high quality *good* music over really bad quality *excellent* music. i'm just such an audiophile i can't handle it.

Arranged, since I hated the original soundtrack when the game came out on PS2. The more live-sounding, higher audio quality soundtrack is much more pleasant to my ears. The original battle theme is especially so loud with all of its bass and reverb effects that I just can't listen to it for a long time. Arguably, having less effects is also a weakness with the remastered soundtrack, as some of the more upbeat themes (such as the boss battle theme) sound less epic when remastered.

I have never played the original Final Fantasy X game, but I prefer the original soundtrack over the rearranged one for most themes.

Come on, this topic is 3 years old. That's such a long time that my opinion has somewhat changed about the soundtrack. Even though the rearranged soundtrack is of higher quality, the original soundtrack seems to work better with the game. This is because the instruments were more spelled out in the original soundtrack, while the rearranged soundtrack is more subtle, losing some of the epicness.

The rearranged soundtrack is still very nice though. I think I'm going with the rearranged soundtrack for the game. It somehow fits better. When I listened to the soundtracks without the game I mostly preferred the original version.
It's a matter of taste anyway.
