PSA: The Nvidia Control Panel V-sync ON option breaks the games performance
No matter what setting you use in game (DLSS, Frame gen on/off, low/high settings etc.) as soon as you turn on V-Sync in the nvidia control panel (while using g-sync in my case so no idea if this holds without it) the game will drop it's 1% lows BY 50%!!! I went from 105 FPS 1% lows to 50 FPS with severe stuttering all through the game! Since I am on a RTX 5090 Ryzen 9950x3D build I was first worried it was an issue with my "exotic" setup but after the game ran like ass with a 30 fps cap all low at 720p I knew something was up.

Yeah, this is actually a known issue with the latest Nvidia drivers. The combination of V-Sync, G-Sync, and Frame Generation is causing massive performance drops (confirmed on my 5080 + 9800x3d)

yeah latest nvidia drivers are poop, just downgrade them to the previous version

I'm in the same situation with a 9800X3D RTX 5090. I have big stutters that last half a second which make it seem as if the game has a big slowdown. I can't wait for a fix.

After testing, it seems that the combination of Gsync+Vsync is the cause. Without Vsync in the Nvidia panel, no more stutters. I set an FPS cap to 224 for my 240Hz monitor because with the MFG I sometimes exceed 240 FPS.

Yeah, I use a similar combo, but in my case, 360Hz with a 320 FPS cap. Well, nothing to do but wait for new drivers to fix this problem.

i just deactivated G-Sync while playing AC Shadows. This fixed mostly all of the visual bugs for me.

Then turn it off.

Even having disabled vsync I continued to have stutters. On the other hand, by deactivating the FG it is fluid without stutters. Nvidia is aware of this problem in the driver in the hope that it will correct it quickly enough

I just disabled v sync (I don't have g-sync) and the game went to 50-60 fps to 90 pretty solid fps. The only bad thing is that sometimes I have screen tearing. It seems vsync is just broken in this game.

Just chiming in to say 9800x3d & 5090. This is the case for any games with the new dlss model in the game natively or injected, with VYSNC enabled in control panel and frame generation on I get stutters. Someone already linked the post but let’s hope Nvidia gaf enough to fix it

I'm only posting to say screw you and your 5090. (jk glad you got one but I'm still salty)

PSA: It breaks all kinds of software, always leave it set to application preference.

If your GPU supports Multiplane Overlays then it's critical to never force VSYNC on globally. Otherwise software that's not supposed to trigger VRR will do so and your system will have poor input response and you will get occasional black screen flashes as the VRR signal drops out.

If you're having stutter with G-Sync enabled, I would suggest installing this and verifying in the control panel that G-Sync is not reported as Supported + Inactive, if it is reported as inactive, then you need to disable various overlays.

Hey quick update: allegedly the new nvidia driver fixes this issue.
longjohn119 18 ABR a las 11:18 a. m.
The new driver gained me about 5-6% average FPS and a 20% gain in 1% lows in Shadows while in Odyssey I got a 10% gain in average FPS with just a very slight gain in 1% lows
