Go into the Nvidia App and find the game from the list and then turn on the "DLSS 4 Override - Mode Presets" and set it to "Use different settings for each DLSS technology" and then set Super Resolution to Latest and if you have a 4000 series set Frame Generation to Latest

When you go to the game page in the app you'll notice a warning that says "Unable to retrieve settings. Try again later." In other words the Nvidia App isn't loading the profile for the game so it's not turning on DLSS 4 automatically.

This is a Nvidia App problem not a Ubisoft problem

Doesn't matter. Ubisoft should've gotten their sh*t together. I didn't spend $70 for a game where I have to fiddle around with the settings for 30 minutes. Besides, I already processed a refund. Thank God for Steam's lenient refund policy.

A 3090 isn't top tier? Buddy, in what universe are you from where talking out of your @$$ doesn't include getting you ridiculed? That's one of the stupidest sh*t I ever heard.
i have a former top tier 3090 too. AC Shadows really is the first and only game where the 3090 doesn't have enough power to play it on highes settings. but i play it know on 4k / 60 hz with some settings turned down and it still looks beautiful.

How is Ubisoft responsible for a Nvidia mistake? It's not a problem with the game it's a problem with the Nvidia App and the way it works for DLSS 4. Basically the DLSS DLLs are no longer provided on a game by game basis, instead the game looks to the Nvidia app to find the DLSS DLLs which are for all games. The reason for this is so they can upgrade every game with DLSS with an update to the Nvidia App instead of the old way where you had to go to every game with DLSS and drop in the latest DLSS DLLs in order to upgrade the DLSS version to the latest one. However Nvidia goofed up and the Nvidia App isn't loading the game profile which means you have to enable the DLSS 4 Overrides manually.

This takes less than a minute but some people are too damned lazy to even do that yet they can spend 30 minutes on Steam b*tching and moaning about it

just use DLSS Swapper
It's nothing to do with forcing settings on or off. The bug, is the DLSS option missing from the in-game menu options for upscaler and Frame generation, under Display.

the DLSS value for those graphics setting in-game will appear or disappear between restarts of the game.
It's not an nvidia app problem. I wasn't even using it and don't usually even install it. After installing it and attempting to force it, it still didn't stick. Neither does forcing it with Special K. It appears, then it doesn't the next time.

Try the latest test version of Special K (updated 30 minutes ago); I have updated it to report fake success messages during the game's startup when it tries to activate DLSS/DLSS Frame Generation.

Details are outlined in this thread:
