I play at that setting. I did not realize I could reload though. Lol. XD Thx for that tip. Though I probably wont. I will take a break from playing.
I suggest these high quality mods :

Naked brutality and Randy is like jumping into the deep end of the swimming pool without knowing how to swim.
Did you accept a refugee quest? If so that is why you were attacked by the two refugees. That quest is a risky bargain that ends in betrayal most of the time.
Maybe try a more traditional start like the three crash landers with Cassandra as a story teller for your next game. She ramps up slow but hits hard later. Also, if you stick with the game you will need to accept that your colonies will die until you learn the mechanics of the game.
I hate to say this, but this game is one of the most frustrating games I have ever played. It has some major short comings that you have to learn to work around. The frustration is matched only by how addictive it is, however. Stick with it. There is a reason people have thousands of hours in this thing.
Well, choose easy next time so you don't have to become angry and frustrated. Especially if you're a new player.
Thats normal, lots of us prefer modded Rimworld.
With the right mods, having a BS game & ending like you did happens much less often.
Good luck and have fun.
edit: I see you already found some good mod choices. Good luck again.
That doesn't sound very vanilla Rimworld to me. Are you running a mod to make that happen?
Or are you just talking about them having a social fight?

Or OP accepted refugees from royalty DLC which have a chance to turn out to be traitors.
Adding to my previous post, the royalty DLC is also mostly designed for experienced players.
So, this "Traitor" thing is a mod-related Event?
(Not having used the mod in question, I was having trouble understanding what the OP meant. Thanks for clearly that up.)
First, the difficult settings you're using are not suitable for players that are fairly new to the game. They're for Experienced players. There's nothing wrong with not being experienced enough to play on high difficulty levels. And, you are not "bad at the game" if you use a lower difficulty setting and doing so says nothing bad about you as a person or a "gamer"... (I have no concept of the motivation of a player new to a game, especially a building/management/simulation game, to crank up all the difficulty dials to "11." :))
Mods are for experienced players. I don't care what any particular mod has to say about itself if it is contrary to that fact. Rimworld's interactions with various game elements are so nuanced and often complex that mods often conflict with each other, have issues with updates, don't actually "work" like they say they do, etc... There are many great mods out there, but a player needs basic vanilla game experience in order to know what they actually "do."
All the difficultly modes other than the very easiest, which removes Raids IIRC, introduce all the game's mechanics to the player. Nothing is left out. The scale or type of Event that can occur may be modified, but they're all there. Learning to play the game by playing one of those modes through to at least the point where one can research the Spaceship components will prepare the player for ALL of the events in all the other difficulty levels aside from the one Raid event progression tied exclusively to the Spaceship construction and the "end game win conditions." (Travel to another spaceship is an option, as well.)
You can also switch between game difficulty and Narrator "on the fly" whenever you wish. The game is pretty unique in that kind of flexible difficulty play.
The point - Play vanilla on a lower difficulty setting, preferably with Cassandra or maybe even Phoebe, up through the point where you've built up a colony with all the expected features and have researched and built/used most of the items up to the point where you might be thinking about building the Spaceship. If you do that, you'll develop the skills and knowledge you need to win the game on harder settings and knowledgeably choose what sorts of mods you'd like to include.
PS: These forums are full of complaints exactly like yours. As you continue playing and enjoying the game, you'll see new players making the same sorts of complaints in these forums and you'll very likely be encouraged to give them the same basic advice as I'm giving you. Also - Ignore recommendations for content-adding mods. You need to first play with no mods, or the least amount of mods, not more... :)
Ah, I was un-aware the Royalty DLC added that. I own it, but haven't used it much.
