Stack XXL or OgreStack should help with your stack issue. I personally use Stack XXL and I'm able to put hundreds of items in a single stack on shelves... You could also use a mod like Haul to Stack to make sure that your pawns drop things in a single stack, rather than making 3-4 stacks with fewer items than the limit.

Not entirely sure which mod gives you those stews, but I do know that the Vegetable Garden mod gives you two different meals that give certain buffs.
