    (With this update, the DirectX backup branch has been disabled as it no longer seems necessary and maintaining it is proving increasingly problematic)

Unversioned Hotfix Live! (1/12/2024)
  • Fixed game crash in multiplayer games when reviving as a character in a non-Tag Team game after previously playing a Tag Team game
  • Updated the way textures load, which should fix several mod related issues.
  • Resolutions are now strictly enforced - if you change to an invalid resolution for your display, the game will correct that at all cost (so full screen is always full screen). Windows sizes available are now based on your screen resolution too.

Unversioned Hotfix Live! (27/11/2024)
  • Fixed Steam Overlay not working on Linux.

Versioned Hotfix Live! (26/11/2024)
  • Mitigated a memory leak issue causing some players very bad performance. There is still work to do, but the game shouldn't go up to crazy amounts in a short amount of time.
  • Fixed being able to select 2x same unit in Tag Team
  • Disabled mouse window resize to avoid confusing results.
  • Fixed a bug where if the game was in a previously low window size and entered borderless windowed, it would render in desktop resolution WITH the elements thinking it was smaller.

  • Fixes the loading of certain announcer mods
  • Fixed clients getting desynced when choosing to "Fight" while having the "Fury" or "Iron Defense" actions available in Co-op games.
  • Fixed game crashing if playing a Tag Team game and switching lobby into Co-op and starting a game.

Version 3.24 ~ Pures Stamp Rally ~ Now Live! (24/11/2024)
  • Extracurricular Crisis event & Tag Team Mode added! Event live until December 21.

    The Tag Team game mode has players packing not one but TWO characters into the match! The characters can be tagged out every 3 chapters, and will automatically tag out if the player is KO'd! Unleash wild new synergies and clever ploys!

    Note that Tag Team game mode is limited to the event duration.

  • macOS support added.
  • A set of "Switch places" voice lines have been added for (almost) every character, which play when tagging out in battle.
  • Added new tagging-related special voice lines for Suguri, Hime, Sumika, Ellie, Lulu, Arnelle, Hime (Moonlight), Reika, Sweet Maker, Mio (Festive), Krilalaris (Pajamas), Mimyuu (Jailbird), Hyper Ellie, Kai (Hero), and Grain.
  • "Game start" voice lines now display a text bubble during the pre-game countdown.
  • Steam Timeline support added.
  • Discontinued 32-bit support.

    Dev note: As we earlier announced, we are now dropping support for x86 architecture. But just for anyone who is unable to play 64 bit games, we've archived the latest version of the game to a new Legacy branch:
    Game Properties -> Betas -> "legacy_3.23.1"
    This legacy build won't be updated, but you can still play with other people using the same build.

  • Graphics engine upgraded to OpenGL (again).
    After extensive testing, the OpenGL build has now moved from the Steam Beta to live build!

    There may still be some undiscovered bugs even after over a year of testing, so if you run into those, just make sure to report them to us! We don't expect anyone will be unable to play the game because of the change, but just in case we've made a new Steam Beta branch that still carries a DirectX build (the previous default), so if for some reason you are unable to play on the OpenGL build, you can switch to that: In case of critical issues, DirectX build is for now still available in a beta branch: Game Properties -> Betas -> "DirectX_Backup"

  • Fixed issues with loading mods on Linux.
  • Mixer RNG changed to make it consistent across platforms.

Balance:
  • Lowered the stat boost gained from Ex-Protagonist's Moment of Glory (+4 ATK -> +2 ATK)
  • Lowered the star cost of Ex-Protagonist's Moment of Glory (Lvlx10 -> Lvlx7)
    Dev note: The ex-hero was acting a bit too heroic, so we deemed it best to tone down his hyper a bit. His evasive capabilities remain as strong as ever while the hyper is active.

Version 3.23.1 Now Live (17/10/2024)

Version 3.22 ~ Dark Chocolate Mousse ~ Now Live! (4/8/2024)
Changes:
  • Bounty Hunters event is now live with new rewards.
  • Contracts now have their own hand space always located to the right of your cards' hand space, they no longer count as cards and a max of 4 can be held.
  • Characters no longer have an inherent +1 extra hand size in BH.
  • Removed BH version of Scrambled Eve as it was no longer necessary.
  • Passing a quest location while having duplicates of the same quest contract now only grants one item instead of as many copies as contracts.

  • Mirages! The bounty locations and shops no longer use the Location Shuffle event to reset. Instead, they stay around until certain conditions are met. A new Mirage effect is always marked on a random panel. Once a location or shop is used up, a new one will instantly spawn on this panel marked with Mirage, and a new Mirage will spawn.
    Locations will be used up once its bounty target is defeated.

    Shops will turn dark 7 turns after appearing, and that means that after the next visit they will despawn. In addition, shops will be immediately used up once they run out of stock.

  • New PVP bounty system added, enabling an alternative fame-gathering path. This adds public PVP bounties, which can be seen on the new Bounty Board by hovering over the top edge of the screen, and private PVP bounties, which can be acquired from Homes if you hold the Assassin’s Badge.

    When you challenge and KO someone who isn’t on the Bounty Board, a public bounty for your head goes up onto the Bounty Board, and you gain the Assassin's Badge inventory item, which enables you to acquire PVP bounties from Homes.

    While holding the Assassin’s Badge, private bounties you procure on others reward 4 fame and goes up by 1 per completed bounty. The badge also grants an additional round of battle when challenging other players, making hunting down lively prey for contracts that much easier!

    Any player can defeat someone on the Bounty Board to be rewarded with the Fame count as described on the bounty on their head, which will remove them from the Bounty Board and make them lose their Assassin’s Badge and any private bounties they held. The bounty amount for players on the Bounty Board starts at a reward of 2 and goes up by 1 for every player they challenge and KO, up to a maximum of 9.

  • "Wanted" card has been integrated into this system, and now places a PVP bounty on the player that steps on it, on top of the original effect.

  • Added a Norma Board system which lets you choose a permanent gain on achieving your Norma.
    These are presented at random for the player to pick, and will not appear again
    These gains vary from statistical boosts to cost cuts, etc.

  • Improved Inventory! The inventory graphics have been improved! In addition, any players' inventory can be viewed any time by clicking on the new icon on their character plate. Some items can now be used from this menu during your turn. This change removes the earlier Inventory button during Standby.

  • Added two new Invaders, alongside a lobby option to choose a specific Invader for your game or Random Invader.
  • Curses! Invaders now have a new ability to apply Curse to contracts! This works similarly to Harbinger's Doom, but instead of targeting a player with the threat of a KO, they mark a contract held in the player's hand. Once the timer on it reaches 0, the contract is removed. The Curse can be removed just like Doom.
  • Doom and Curse can now be healed off by visiting an Inn. In addition, Elixir is now a consumable which can be stored and used at any time to fully heal and cure Doom and Curse.
  • Invaders now drop a special inventory item when defeated, which grants a passive effect.
  • The Harbinger changes:
    Harbinger's Doom adjusted:

    Targeting now considers other players in proportion to how far away they are from the lead player in fame; you will not be targeted if your fame is lower by 7 or more than the lead player.

    Harbinger has a 30% chance when he uses his ability to use Curse instead of Doom.

    Units who dealt damage to The Harbinger no longer gain Fearless Hunter.

    Drops Dauntless Shield: Reduces all incoming battle damage by 1.

  • New Invader: The Lost Rogue
    Stats: 12 HP, 0/0/+2

    Cannot be damaged or KO'd outside of battle, challenges other units when passing by them, and can perform Critical Hits at a 25% chance. Critical Hits double the offense roll.
    Every 5 turns, marks 3 panels at random and skips turn to then jump on and slice in a 1-panel AoE (3x3) distance to deal 2 damage and apply Curse.

    Drops Rogue's Twin Blades: Allows you to perform critical hits at a 20% rate.

  • Returning Invader: Dark Chocolate Mousse

    Stats: 7 HP, -1/-1/-1

    Cannot be damaged or KO'd outside of battle. If the opponent is defeated in battle, steal 1 fame, gain a stack of Star Eater and heal 1 HP if not Awakened. Give 2 fame + stolen fame when KO'd. After battle, warp to a random panel.

    Drops Dark Chocolate Star: Grants 3 stars for each point of damage dealt in battle and enemies lose 3 stars for each point of damage received in battle.

  • New NPC: Shady Merchant

    Can sell items to players, immune to events and card effects.

    Appears when a player reaches Norma 4.

    Runs the Black Market, hosting a plethora of powerful but expensive items; you may only buy one Black Market item in a game.

  • New Black Market items:
    Cursed Sword
    Cursed Battle Axe
    Cursed Bounty
    Cursed Syrup
    Purple Bean Ice Cream
    Enhanced Gale Shoes
    Master Summoner

  • New items, all sold by the Alchemist:
    Precision Goggles (25 cost): passive upgrade that enables you to throw items 3 panels further

    Poison Blaster, Venom Blaster, and Corrosion Blaster (30/45/60 cost): can be thrown as a projectile to poison players caught in the blast radius, making them take 1/1/2 damage at the start of their turn for 2/3/3 turns

    Sparkle Bomb (60 cost): usable card that reverses the field pathing for 2 chapters
    Bakery sweets that grant ATK/DEF/EVD are now inventory items instead of activating upon purchase, can be used from the inventory during standby. Duration changed from 3 chapters to next 2 battles.

  • Shield items have been adjusted; Wooden/Iron/Mithril now reduce damage by 1/1/2 (previously 1/2/3), last for 2/4/4 hits (previously 2/4/6), and do not expire after 1 battle.

  • Leather Boots now gives unconditional +2 MOV.
  • Gale Shoes adjusted: +2 MOV, and an additional +1 if holding 2 or less contracts
  • Price changes:
    Cookie, Candy, Ice Cream: 20 -> 30
    Muffin, Caramel, Sorbet: 50 -> 60
    Pastry, Chocolate, Gelato: 80 -> 90
    Wooden Shield: 15 -> 20
    Iron Shield: 30 -> 45
    Mithril Shield: 45 -> 70
    Spiked Shield: 60 -> 70
    Potion of Vitality: 30 -> 25
    Phoenix Essence: 50 -> 40
    Slimebomb: 50 -> 30
    Lure: 75 -> 45
    Teleportation Potion: 130 -> 100

  • Smoke of the Lost Memories removed.

    The effect of Smoke of the Lost Memories has been moved to a turn action button, thus is able to be done anytime the circumstances are fitting and not needing the card for battling a bounty again (and thus, Smoke of the Lost Memories has been removed).
  • Adjusted shop costs for each character now appear under the unit card in Bounty Hunt games. With this, a new system has been put in place to allow some characters to have adjusted shop costs not solely based on stats. Currently, only Nath and Watty are being changed in this way.

    Watty: -65% -> +20%

Unversioned hotfix now live! (20/5/2024)
  • Reverted the graphics engine upgrade for the time being.

    Dev note: in hindsight when we planned this update, we didn't expect to have this many active players. While we expected the change to generate a lot of reports, it turned out a bit overwhelming and we also want to make sure all the new players can play without issue while we figure them out. That's why we reverted the graphics engine change. The downside is that the new accessibility options are also gone because they rely on the OpenGL build. However, we've updated a new "Public OpenGL Beta" branch with the compatible OpenGL .exes, so anyone that wants to keep playing on/testing the new engine can just swap into that. We'll keep it up to date with future updates too so there's no problem playing online.

  • Fixed an issue with the 10 year anniversary cutscene not getting saved after seeing it once.

Unversioned hotfix now live! (20/5/2024)

  • Added Bourbon & Grain for owners of the Bourbon & Grain Character Pack

  • Added 6 new achievements.
  • Added new voice lines for Malt and Mescal.
  • Added a special anniversary thank-you message that's visible for a month and will be automatically in the gallery after that.
  • Added new save system

    Dev note: While this update may not be flashy, it'll hopefully make the game more robust to play for a long, long time! We've overhauled the game's save system with the new system we trialed in the second Bounty Hunt beta.

    The save files are now found in a "save" folder in the game's installation folder. They are further separated into folders by your Steam user ID, and all 3 user profiles have a separate save file. The big benefit of this is that family sharing and similar scenarios will no longer overwrite your save file as it's based on your Steam ID. The new format of the save files should also make them way more safe against save corruption, keeping your progress more secure.

  • Graphics engine upgraded

    Dev note: The graphics engine in 100% Orange Juice has been overhauled to use OpenGL 3.3! It's a big change which completes the removal of any windows-only code from the game, but you shouldn't notice any immediate difference from it.

    In the future, this makes new effects and features possible, possibly even new kinds of mods. Eventually this will enable us to release the game on other platforms besides Windows as well!

    Since the update changes pretty much how all visuals in the game are executed, there may be some small visual glitches in situations we didn't think to check, so if you see something weird, please make sure to report it!

  • Added experimental new Accessibility options for those with visual impairments.

    Dev note: We're aware that these aren't a perfect solution, but they seemed to be at least of some help to users. We hope to get feedback from players with visual impairments to help us further improve the game.

  • Based on feedback, card back options will now also affect the center deck.
  • Reduced cooldown of the star sound effect.
  • Re-added fame rewards on Bounty Hunt contracts.
  • Fixed a visual issue with Sweet Blogger's hyper animation.

Version 3.14 ~CutiePie now live! (1/4/2024)
(April Fools)

Season 3!
Season 3 kicks off with an introductory event, School Grudges!
Marie and Kai don't seem to have anything in common. Marie is a popular girl with a strong personality, while Kai sort of fades into the background. But both of them are hiding something about themselves. Because her mom works full time, Marie has to spend most of her free time caring for her younger sisters and herself. Meanwhile, Kai is hiding a more nerdy side - he listens to idol music wherever he goes, and carries a deck of cards that he never shows anyone.

The two might not have much in common, but they do have camouflage. That's enough to spark a beautiful relationship.

The Old Guard Is Here!
Two long-awaited new characters slide into 100% Orange Juice! Suguri (46 Billion Yen) and Sumiko are now playable for owners of the Old Guard Pack!

Create chaos on the battlefield with Suguri and Sumiki's unique mechanics!

HP 5, ATK +1, DEF +2, EVD -2, REC 6

0/+1/-1, 7 HP, 6 REC
Every time you take a damage, your current HP goes down by 1.

Heart of Dorkness (BOOT)
Lvl 2, Cost: 20
Target another active player. Next time they are challenged or challenge a unit, play a game of Tetris (the hard one). If you win, gain 1 star. On game over, lose the game.

Chaos Mode Added!
A new Chaos Mode has been added to the game! The mode is permanent and we promise a minimum of 5 years of support for it, including 2 new game modes, a battle pass, new characters, a helpline and increased banner rates. Chaos Mode will be retired on April 30. Thank you for your support!

Players finishing the Chaos Mode will receive a Mikky Mousse (Steamboat Willie version) skin for Marie Poppo.

Balance
Mother Poppo
Mother Power had the following change:
"If the effect ends or is replaced while active, heal all damage taken during the effect."
->
"If the effect ends or is replaced while active, heal to full HP."

Dev note: Mother Poppo was struggling with maintaining her HP which made it hard to benefit both from her passive and her Hyper. This card both allows her to avoid hanging on at low HP (and being easy pickings), and to use a second Hyper to top up her HP in an emergency. We believe that'll allow Poppo to win more, as Tomomo intended.

Tomato & Mimyuu
Mimyuu had the following change:
"Revive as Tomato and act on revival."
->
"Revive as Tomato. When you do, you may challenge any enemies on the same panel."

Tomato had the following addition to her passive:
"Lose 1/3 stars when KO'd in battle."

Dev note: Tomato & Mimyuu have long been in our sights for a small improvement. The main pain point with the characters came from them not really delivering on the core concept where Tomato takes revenge on those who bully Mimyuu, as her acting on revival would result in her running ahead of the player who KO'd Mimyuu, and being easily subjected to chain KO instead. This change should make players think twice about picking on Mimyuu. However we also acknowledge that Tomato's stats aren't very high either and even an attempt at payback carried great risk, so the star loss change will make her revenge more viable.

Suguri (46 Billion Years)
Suguri's passive had the following change
"When choosing a damage dealing Boost/Event card to play, you may pay 1.5x its cost (rounded up) to double its damage on use. If you do, gain +1 die to your next movement roll."
->
"When playing a damage dealing Boost/Event card, gain +1 ATK until end of turn and +1 die to your next movement roll. You may pay 1.5x its cost (rounded up) to double its damage."

Dev note: Doubling a damage card's power is no longer necessary to trigger the rest of the passive bonus. Suguri (46 Billion Years) is another character we've long wanted to buff, but it took time to decide how to approach her. After much discussion, we felt the requirement to double a damage card's cost to receive the passive bonus was hampering Suguri's gameplay both in terms of players spending more stars for little gain and hurting their progress, and limiting their options in doing a custom amount of damage to potential targets to bring them down to low HP. With the removal of that restriction and the addition of a further +1 ATK to the ability, we believe she will be a force to be reckoned with on the field.

I think "requires" should be "required".
Also, the runaway beard being captured gave me a chuckle.

Huh, I had been thinking before that maybe Moss Golem in normal mode should have 9 HP instead of 14, with the other stats remaining the same, to be sort of in line with the other bosses. Even with 0 DEF instead of +1, 14 HP is still a lot to chew through.

Oh boy this is a lot. Looks good. This event is a great opportunity to try out these changes. I'm not even entirely sure which events are part of 'Season 2' so I'm looking forward to seeing how many there are and which ones I still need to do, but I truly hope there will be a better way of progressing retired events that doesn't rely on using an external guide/wiki. :ojchicken:

Can you fix it so that it's not possible to click on any bag icon while simultaneously also clicking on other buttons too, please? The inventory can still pop up on me whenever I click to move or on a Yes/No prompt if I don't consciously make sure my cursor isn't overlapping a bag icon.

100% Orange Juice version 3.23 is live! (30/8/2024)!
This version features a singular change - mod interface rework!

As the mod interface improvements were hard due to how it was handled, the mod menu got moved to its own window on the main menu, bringing back the config to its usual 4 tabs!

  • Mods JSON definitions have been updated:
