What happens if you set your home base on another planet while you currently already have one?
I want to know if I can change my home base planet and transfer my base over there, thanks.

Yes you can. When you find and go to set the second one, it will pack up your first one, and you retain all your resources and progress with the npcs. You simply reset all the pieces and stations at the new site. It's fairly easy and quick and you don't lose resources from the first one.

It only gets time consuming if you built a huge base, as you will have to reset all the pieces at the new site. But it is very portable. Very much a convenience feature.

You can also go back and pack up your first base by hand if you wish too. So there are two safe methods for continuing to travel and having your base.

Happy building explorer~

Your old base is destroyed but you get the materials back.

So, does it just spawn the way it was at the new place, and what things do I have to reset.

Unfortunately it doesn't re-lay it all, you will need to re-place them at the new site. But you will have all the resources from the old base. You even have a visible container with your old base assets, at the new base site.

With my old base assets? Is there any way to see my old base layout or do I have to take a screenshot?

Have to take a screenshot for now. It doesn't keep an image of your first base right now. That is a good feature suggestion though.

What about items stored in containers at the old base? I assume they get brought to the new base as well right?

I've been thinking about moving, but have been reluctant to without knowing whether I can keep the stuff stored there. And I've got too much stuff to carry manually.

Yeah, maybe. Or they could just take the whole base and move it over to the new place if they give us the materials anyway. I'm gonna go into creative mode and test how the base transfer works and see if I want to do it in the regular mode as well.

Try creative mode, it might help you see what would happen.

That's a good idea, hadn't considered that. I'll have to go try that.

Thanks. :)

I have a question about the modes now. I was always scared I would lose my game on Normal mode if I picked and played on the other modes. Can I still play my normal mode saves later if I pick say Creative Mode to try things out on? I don't want to lose my Normal Mode game saves.

Gonna ask in Gameplay discussion too.

They are three independent saves, don't worry.

Okay, looks like the things in your containers are safe during the move.

Every container has a number, and the container with the same number will always have the same items. So just rebuild the containers at the new place to access your items. :)

This is great news! Was thinking of moving to another planet and now I know that it's safe to do without losing any stuff. :steamhappy:
