Ridiculously high CPU temps
My CPU temps reach 90º C. I have v-sync activated (that helps with temperatures, as far as I know), and framerate capped to 90. Summers are pretty hot in my city (30-34º), but I think this game needs some optimizations since it's not normal this game puts such stress on my cores.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

no matter what a game does, your cpu shouldn't go so high EVER. downlaod CPU-Z and Core Temp and let one stress your CPU to full laod and check your temperature.

there is no point in building a PC that actually cannot properly cool it's full laod. because then you simply spent money on possible performance thats eithr not usable or unhealthy for your hardware. And this in the end is a watse of money.

A possible second issue may be voltage. Could be something provides too much voltage to your CPU which can have also a big impact on the temperature

1 Year ? Thermal paste ? way to long... esspecially with oc`ed CPUs change interval will shorten.. change thermal paste at least every 6 months or when you experience a constant rise in CPU temperature

I change my paste every 3 months

Oh, trust me, that isn't a good idea.
Get someone else to do it then. :p
Either way, you want to figure out what's causing the problem and a process of elimination is the best way to do that. :)

No the only time you should need to replace your thermal paste is when you are swapping out your heatsink etc...

Plus the reason you will be getting constant heat issues over time is that you could be putting too much paste for your CPU or too little paste!

I would like to sign this. 6700k at 4.6ghz, all my games never go above 60c. I wastch my motherboard temps directly on my motherboard and when i launch the game it spikes to 80s then in game its above 70. Just noticed these higher temps after installing new nvidia driver for NMS.

Edit: and screw all these people saying thermal paste and ♥♥♥♥. This is NMS I know for a fact. Put some damn stress on my gtx 1080 for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake, good ol ps4 games...

OP is talking about the CPU not the GPU!!

ur cpu should never get to 90 degrees, jeez I thought 80 was high once on mine.

Strangely it has never affected gaming performance. I've been waiting for it to die but it keeps on going so im fine with it.

XD People really have no clue how well modern tech can handle high temps... "omg my cpu is at 70c, it's going to die!!!" lmfao
Really. What CPU is that?

Same here. 4770K @ 4.2Ghz (from 3.9, not that much OC. Didn't have to touch voltage or anything) and memory bus @ 2400 MHz. Stock cooler (I know) and new Artic Silver 5.

I'm monitoring temps with Asus AI 3, which reports socket + other things temp, on a second monitor. NMS spikes to full load (90-104W) when generating new areas, for just a second, reaching 85ºC, then magically returning to 65 to 60, which is normal.

In other cpu intensive games, like those with frostbite engine, I get ~65. 68ºC max in R6 Siege. Nothing tops that. Should check real core temps with HWMonitor or something, however.

Anyway, the sudden temperature change hints towards bad dissipation or weird temp reporting from the Asus software. I don't have a reference for that thou. And bad dissipation is also strange since I recently changed the thermal paste and cleaned the heatsink.

No thermal throttling so far.

OP do youself a favour and replace that stock CPU cooler with something like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Trust me, you're going to be much happier.

I usually just take a can of air upside down and spray it on my GPU and CPU to cool them off for while. Cheapest solution ever and it cleans out dust at the same time!!

Depends on your specs, if you don't have a good graphics card then you are obviously relying on your CPU to handle the graphics, which is why your temps are so high, what is your setup?

Also thinking about getting some decent airflow going on if you're suffering, what is like at the moment?
That is not how it works.. Bad GPU that cannot deliver high frame rates would actually in most cases reduce CPU load... What matters is that this game is very heavily biased towards CPU because of procedural generation as well as having optimization issues.

Yeah because it is demanding CPU wise.. That does not mean you should blame the game for having inadequate cpu cooling and possible lack of airflow in case. Similar results would be seen if you encoded a video utilizing all cores while also utilizing the GPU. If it overheats during such situations it is not on the game.
