...Crashed Interceptor just flew away...

I have been hunting for an interceptor in my newest save, and I just had one fly away as I approached it. I stood there looking around and up, rather baffled afterward.

Here's a very short (1 minute) video to show it happening that I captured using Nvidia Replay after it occured:

It was a system I had just discovered, and I was alone in the system, so not some kind of multiplayer bug.

I reloaded from the restore point made right when I landed by the crash, and I was able to claim the interceptor on that 2nd try. Note, I claimed it, without needing to repair it (with the mirrors/brain/etc.) or anything. Which is also odd; I never had that happen before either.

yep...it happens, there's a famous planet with double crashed white guppies...i get one on most saves and it ALWAYS flies off as i approach

For some reason, this happens more so if someone else has found it, and has shared the planet code and ship location for others to come get it.
I had this happen after watching one of Jason Plays's videos on a cool Sentinel ship, that someone had found. I went to get the ship, and as I was removing the three items from the ship, the ship it took off. I had to do a few save game reloads, before I could get the ship.

Double Guppies? Can I have the coords for that please? A white and gold Royal guppy is my fave ship and I haven't managed to find one yet

the easiest way is go to the space station or a base in the system and teleport to my base 'white Guppy (look north) ship is 650u north of my base....or from space my base is coloured yellow

the coordinates for the second is supposed to be +34,03, -111 but that might be wrong (i haven't gone for the second in years)

If you're going after a ship that some else has posted, go OFFLINE before approaching it. That way, if someone beat you to it, it doesn't show up on your end, allowing you to snag it.

Yep, same thing happened to me when I attempted to claim a known S-class white and blue sentinel ship. When it flew away, the POI marker for it also moved, so I went to the marked location, but the ship was not visible. I tried it twice using the normal methods, and both times it flew away. I forget exactly how I was ultimately able to claim it, but I believe I left the system and came back after changing my current mission, or maybe quit and restarted.

in addition turn off multi if your hunting ships, as sometimes one gets claimed by a player just as you arrive, been there done that. Can always turn it back on after you take the ship.
