Can we get rid of the horrendous inventory management?
Everything is perfect but the inventory management is terrible and kills every enjoyment. It will be great if everything is auto added and players don't have to worry about the inventory in the main game mode. Really tired of drag dropping and managing things, else make everything stack like 1bn.

if you're dragging and dropping then you're doing it wrong, that's all i say.
first learn to master the controls before complaining about inventory management

Here is a tip for having a sorted inventory.

Place everything where you like it to be and then NEVER sell or craft the last item in the stack. This way the stack will stay where you put it, and new ones will fall on the stack.

do you make use of the quick transfer mechanism?
if not, then learn what the controls are before complaining about how they function...

Could they be improved? yes.
Are they as bad as you're making them out to be? no.

OP never played this game in 2016, back in the dark days of inventory hell.

X menu for the win, everywhere, all the time.
Freighter - matter beam. Drag freighter along with you.
You're welcome.

Pick up less ♥♥♥♥.

yeah, the limited stack sizes in survival helped me get over my tendency towards hoarding (at least a little :steamhappy: ). Why waste time gathering huge stacks of stuff you can find literally everywhere...

I'm sure everyone has their own system. Here's mine.

On the player, put all minerals and gasses first (basically anything that you mine for).

Then under that put all the other consumables like life support gel and that stuff.

Then under that keep stuff that is more disposable, like Carrier AI fragments and anomaly detectors and that sort of thing.

If you get up to 9999 in the minerals, the new stack will show on the bottom and then you can just sell or delete the new minerals from the bottom of your person's inventory

In the freighter inventory I keep stuff that you get from Frigate missions often like the race based trinkets you can give to NPCs, convergence cubes, phsyconic eggs,t he parts for stasis devices and the exotic type minerals like Arronium and all that stuff.

Like another poster said, also sell everything except for one when you sell so when you get more, they always go to the same spot.

if you do all that I think inventory management becomes a little easier.

Thanks for a tip.
Simple solution 👌

The inventory could absolutely use a "sort by" button.

Inventory management is really just an early game issue but we mostly only have saves that are early game so it just seems unending. Consistency is the answer and maxing out your personal inventory spaces so you can drag what you need with you if you feel you must. Mostly it's stop with the hoarding (yeah, good luck with that) or selling as you go. I play several games that have one button solutions to inventory management and it just makes keeping crap you don't need even more of an issue. And I kind of missed micromanaging it all. Crazy, I know but it's a real win to figure out storage and exactly what works well for you.
The only real solution is self-control. LOL

Item management is still very crude and basic, that's true.
I could think of many possible fixes and improvements.

But you seem to have missed on eor two of those very basic functions that the game provides. If you drag and drop everything, you're doing it wrong.
