Any tips on starting the expedition, like what to bring of tech and cargo?
I see that another user posted he cant find any Di-hydrogen.

There are some rocks with Di-hydrogen as secondary resource around, it is little, but still something...

I'm not seeing the expedition available at the expedition terminal on the anomaly. Only as a new save option on startup. Am I missing something? On steam/pc. Experimental

@Parian -I'm at The Nexus atm, many players are starting from terminal. Be sure to update the game in Steam.

Don't bring any special ship or multitool techs. You can get those from the Anomaly once it becomes accessible after the first phase (Assuming it is accessible this expedition, seems restrictive.) If you have access to top-shelf manufactured goods, take along a stack or two. Pack your best and most useful exosuit tech, but make sure you know what you sent so you can send it back at the end. A few stacks of Runaway Mold will easily extract to the nanites you need to get your ship and tool. If you have a portable refiner packed along, and patience, you can get your stuff by the first time you leave the Anomaly! (The refiner is also easy replaced, don't worry about leaving it behind at the end.) Also, pack a stack or two of Salvage Tech Modules. That'll give you a head start on structure parts and other things you take for granted in your main save. Ionized Cobalt is useful for things like batteries for a base, and Ion Batteries will keep your element shields charged.

Ok. At the Nexus ATM, all I was seeing was the dregs of the Aquarius expedition, which I finished long ago. It was asking me to archive Aquarius but wouldn't let me do it till I took back all the stuff I earned on that expedition. Worked finally. Thanks.

If you figure this out, I would like to know too. frustrating at best

Started underwater, near a small island with my ship. There's no resources on said island, and I don't feel like swimming to another distant island to find dihydrogen or anything else that isn't easily obtainable from the ocean. Not exactly a great start for this expedition.

@Naii Starwing Yeah, I'm in the middle of phase 1, it won't let me summon the Nexus... with all the goodies... sob.

Summoning Nexus was always possible after 1 (or was that 2?) jumps, so try after using some portals?

Main challenge at the start is keeping on hand the minimum materials to replenish your Anomaly Suppressor. Suggest a priority of finding Spectral anomalies, killing them for their loot and have on hand Di-hydrogen to keep an "Elixir of Glass" on hand to renew your Anomaly Suppressor. Scanning / finding Di-hydrogen is a real pain so that was my main worry.

Yeah, a bit of a pita; but necessary.... Not sure how I feel about HG re-rolling the game mechanics every year or so.... Get used to one system, then they change it... different resources needed, new behaviors... Leaving the planet's surface seems to restore the new shields to full strength. Bug? or Intended?

This is such a let down! Another update that once again butchered my game. The planet that has my main base and has been that for a very long time is now a completely different planet with completely different fauna and flora!!! It was a earth like planet and is now a fungal f u c k u p!!!!!
My Joystick no longer works with the game either!
Why fix what wasn't even broken?! I'm so disappointed and frustrated that the devs made this happen.
It feels like a big F U C K YOU to me the player.

My general approach for any expedition is mainly bring a personal refiner and make other stuff as I go along. It's extremely convenient since the only other thing I'd need is to look at is a refining guide.

To be specific on other stuff brought:
Half stack of O2(you can refine almost anything important with this)
Small amount of carbon+, Cl, Co+, and H3 so that I can avoid sea/cave/space searching
Di-hydrogen is refined from tritium aswell^^^
Uranium for launch thruster, also works as a means to convert to other local earth elements if necessary.
Chromatic metal, idk how much this expedition uses without a warp drive.
Stasis device/storm crystal/whatever method of acquiring starter funds for trading.
idk about nanites. Bring mould? lmao
hazamat gauntlet is a given for plant gathering.
Quicksilver terminal more or less handles all the other stuff, but without it would probably bring an indium drive and cargo scan deflector. Everything else is also probably found on startup/trading.

Usually don't need nanites btw, was just a joke. :P

Nice to know what to take. The last expedition was the first time I used a save game so I didn't bring some things that would have been good. This time I will make sure to bring chromatic metal, cobalt, sodium, oxygen, carbon, ferrite dust, salvaged glass stack, to make starting easier, plus other upgrades. Along with items suggested here. I am still learning what I can take for starting an expedition from a save game. Might want to keep the ship they give us so might not use the ship I have available at the expedition station.
