Exotic S rank ships suck...
I have been driving a sentinel ship rank A for some time and finally found a exotic ship that landed in a space station for 36 million

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3363673648

I bought this ship, i maxed out his stats with S rank modules.

and it sucks, it feels slower, less mobile, cannot hover over ground e.t.c.

Why did i even switch to this type of ship ?

Or am i wrong?

Are sentinel intercepters way better than Exotic S ranks ?

Exotics are probably still the best "all-round" starships, but other classes will be better at specific tasks.

But IME, once you get a ship that can hover (an Interceptor or Expedition reward ship like the Starborn Runner) it's pretty hard to justify going back to one without that capability.

Oh how i used to be excited about exotic ships when i was a new player.

Once i came to understood the game more, i came to understand the meaning of exotics, and that meaning can be described in one word;

MEH

Absolutely stick with your interceptor.

(Exotics look cool in your squadron though)

time to search for a S rank interceptor, since i sold my A rank for scrap after finding the exotic one :steamhappy:

If I get an exotic to use to fly, I don't want a tail, nose, top or bottom fin. In fact in an exotic, I just want a round ball with the tiny wings like tweety bird. And an exotic still cannot hover.

But you can fuel the pulse drive with pyrite, really only reason I might fly one. As you said, I still prefer the sentinel ships. But that is just my opinion and other people have different opinions.

hmmm, well, in my 1000 hours of game time, i only ever saw ONE S class interceptor, so good luck with that. Oh and by the way, i still scrapped it because the supercharged tech slot arrangement was bad. So what you will be looking for are 3 supercharged slots together for your engine tech, and one on its own for weapon..... and this will already be hard enough to find.

I believe the Exotic used to be good for getting to the center of the galaxy. Due to jump range and efficiency. Personally I prefer my interceptor(s) to any other ship.

On expeditions I usually spend too much time finding an interceptor. Only because I like to start each expedition from a new save lately and not do a big load out of all kinds of gear and my favorite ship.

Maybe for the next expedition I’ll try loading out my gear again. Feels kind of like I am cheating when I include a bunch of high nanite, high unit stuff and take my loaded ship and multi tool. But running them different ways is fun too.

oh, thank you.
i started playing this game like a month ago. Im so glad i skipped all the buggy, laggy, lack of content years. For me this game looks INCREDIBLY polished. The graphics are amazing, not ran into a single bug in 60 hours. So much to do its insane.

So Exotics were the best on start.
And in later Patches you were able to get intercepters. I see. Gonna stick to intercepter as a main ship. Will be trying to get a S class now

Don't buy new ships unless it's very special like the squid. - Use YT to get all you want.

Exotics and interceptors both have a maneuverability base stat of 40-50 so they should upgrade the same.

Interceptor has better damage modifier and the exotics has better shields and hyperdrive.

What is special about the squid? I got one with twin supercharged slots together in two separate locations, and you know what i discovered?

Everything's OP when you load it up so get what you like. The game is quite different than a few years ago and I personally wish they would go back and either give us some new exotics or at least upgrade the old ones to be able to hover. That really is the only thing they can't do. I still like the T-Ball ones, totally plain with a royal multitool and backpack to match. Fashion - NMS end game. They have by far the best windshield without piles of crap to limit your view. ymmv.

It doesn't suck just because it's different. It doesn't hover, but I find exotics are often more enjoyable to fly when cruising around planets. And they have a variety of appearances and variants. Variety is nice for those of us who like it, and don't want to always be flying our perfect uberships.

You can have 12 ships at one time, and it's simple to switch between them - even more simple now. I always keep an exotic or two active for these reasons.

if you find a ship you like but the class is low, try farming traveller graves for the class upgrade memory fragment, if you can get one of those and dont mind a little cheating {refiner glitch} you can make all of your ships and multi tools s class.
just something iv found, as the grind can be grindy.

I still enjoy switching between my Squid and my Organic.
Wish they would refresh a bit the latter :hams:, give it more options.

I'm still using a fighter S-class from a previous expedition (that golden thingy). The ability to hover might make be bother putting a second ship in rotation. Think I have a Star Runner, might go give that a whirl.
