That strategy only has a limited lifespan, as now theyve run out of platforms to port to so they must rely on further organic growth or DLCs (or both).
Long story short, they are very small and they did very well with NMS compared to the few mouths they have to feed. I vaguely remember they had something like four programmers at release. They grew but only have 40 employees now. Not sure how many are programmers, art/communications and support.
I've bought it on Xbox, then Steam. They added it to other platforms, Game Pass.
Game's regular price has not moved for years, just half price sales. I feel like this shows it strong value
Even though the game launched in an abysmal state, the company truly believes in the game and continued to improve it over the years despite the bad press of it's initial release. The only conclusion I can draw, is that the people at HelloGames care about the game beyond it just being a product to make the company money.
It's a rare thing to see. And I'm glad that I am here for it.
I'm a PC player, yes back in the days I got a few crashes like cache is building up. But it was playable, just reload restore point once a while. Yes they overpromised, but the seemless travel from planet to planet was one of a kind and made up for it.
