Good luck y'all.
I could be wrong, but I think I had to restart the game to apply changes I made. I can't test Frame Gen yet though until my monitor arrives.

Note the low gpu usage and lower fps with Framegen enabled. This is without HDR. Using 555.99 driver. Guess i could try the latest 560.77 driver.
Note: Also tried HDR and i can confirm Framegen does not turn on at all no matter what dlss quality setting is used. dlss overlay indicator confirms by not showing the framegen indicator top left of screen. Restarting game with HDR on and framegen on still no go.
Note: I did another test with HDR off where i was at 167fps with Framegen On. I then locked framerate to 167 and tried no Framegen. Wanted to test cpu and gpu usage at like fps. With Framegen On gpu and cpu usage was lower at same fps. So it actually is working. I just have no idea why it can't do a higher fps then without Framegen. Maybe those lower end cards that struggle to get 60fps perhaps they can get above 60fps with Framegen On. But i can't test that.
I do get a massive improvement when i change advanced system settings, the part where you change VRAM settings, in the advanced tab i changed it from the default Programs to Background processes, so the Vram prioritises background processes over running programs, seems to have improved it a lot, but i haven't checked in all scenarios because i'm pulling my hair out on my home world, my character build isn't made for this new environment, so i ggtta move house, also i put a few other settings on lowest to make up the shortfall in fps, seems to have ironed it out a bit at least....also flushing DNS cache and doing a shader cache reset won't hurt
Such a pity that pretty much all "MAJOR updates" for all titles results in this kind of upheaval, so when i see "MAJOR update" i always gulp a little, it's becoming expected now, all your settings are gonna get thrown out and your current game gets borked.
other than this stutter fps business it is a great update, but you gotta band aid it a little, hopefully they will release a patch addressing it soon, also seems only nvidia users are getting framegen and not AMD
Note to self: new stuff causes headaches, pain and discomfort
It might be the shader cache being reset. I had a similar experience where the last version ran extremely well and this morning it was a stuttering mess. Played for a few hours and most of the stutters are gone. You can check how much NMS has cached in steam settings
Changing to DLSS and FG did not require a restart after resetting the graphics settings.
Thats crazy cuz every game i've played which has FSR + framegen was broken lol
