In the files i cannot find a dedicated server! Is there somewhere I can find this? Im trying to set up a server for my gaming clan that we can play.

That's not the way it works. You can join each others game but you'll still all be in the same multiplayer universe shared by everyone using the same game mode. The only exception is the space anomaly. I don't recall the details of how that works, but it's all done automatically. There's nothing you can choose or configure beyond what you see in the network options screen.

There are no dedicated servers. As far as I know, the game works through p2p

Ok, thanks for the info. I guess this title will be off the radar for hosting on my server box. Has anyone tried any other titles similar that run dedicated servers? I have Space Engineers and also Empyrion Galactic Survival, I might give those a go. If anyone has pros and cons or comparisons, or recommendations about these games let me know. Reason I wanted to go with No Mans Sky, is that it looks more polished.

This game isnt built to run on a server box. Just because it isnt doesnt mean its pointless... Its a great game if you are into it. Everything is in a huge connected MMO universe (sort of) and seeing other players besides your own friends are mostly optional. If you build on the same planet you will see eachothers bases after you leave eachothers games (assuming it has been uploaded in the game, which is easy) and that already makes it seem like if you would play on a dedicated server.

This game doesnt work anywhere near the same way Space engineers or empyrion does. Also base building isnt even the main part of the game (it is fun though) but most of the game is mostly about exploring a vast procedural galaxy and do whatever you manage to do. There are frighters, your own bases to build etc. someone even built a huge "eden" project where a dozen players in a huge community has gathered to populate a single planet. With multiplayer enabled, you will see your friends automatically when you enter the same systems (unless there are more players than you there) but that is unlikely unless you invite someone to your exact planets...

I agree with Zefnoly. I really don't see a reason why you would want to run this game on your own server. I don't see any advantage.

The game just wouldnt work properly on a dedicated server... Its a community driven game, quite litterally. Everything down to the way discovery works. You discover a system, you are its original explorer when you upload.

I don't know how well this would work but if I wanted to do something like this I would buy another copy of the game, install it onto a random pc, and then host a game from that pc. I'd think that if you just left that game running it would maybe work the same way as long as it was running. This is a big maybe though since I've never tried to do something like that.

I ended up basically just not playing it. I popped on a few times after updates, but Its very unfriendly for co-op playing with others by not having dedicated server. So much wasted potential with this one, I hope that it gets added oneday.
