Random FPS drops, GPU usage randomly becomes 100%
So I'm playintg on nvidia 3060, intel i7 11th gen, 16 gb ram laptop, the game runs great on high and even ultras and gpu usage is about 70-80%, temp is okay. but in like 30-40 minutes of gaming usage becoming 100% and I get like 20 fps instead of 60-70, I would say "yes, maybe it's the zone that is graphics heavy", but I can immediately relog to game and it will become 60-70 fps again...and like that another 40ish minutes.

Tried this HIGHTREAD of whatever the setting is, tried all kinds of configs, undervolting via msi afterburner, low-ultra settings doesn't change anything at all. I DON'T GET IT

Troubleshoot. Put some of your settings on High instead of Ultra until you find the setting causing it.

i tried that, put everything on ultra and then going down setting by setting lower and lower and reloging into the game every time I change something. I didn't change anything, even if I go 1080p instead of 2k, I go all LOW (which is "standard" in a game) it will still drop my fps after like hour of gaming to 20-30 fps and until I relaunch the game

geforce drivers is up to date, tried to uninstall and reinstall too, same thing. nvidia control panel is in default setting with all those settings for a particular app but I also tried different configs on youtube - same. Some of those configs may present me with better fps but after 40-60 min it will still drop.
Laptop is plugged in, in performance (turbo) mode so that's also no prob

tried borderless, windowed and fullscreen, it all returns the same results.

I will try this fix you've sent later after work, thanks a lot for that, really appreciated!

I have your same specs, except 32GB system ram and play at 2k res.

Try to use border less window, and set the same refresh rate of game same as the monitor on windows screen. Lastly, leave v-sync on even if you have g-sync (they actually work combined).

Also, try to run a repair files from steam. It maybe be some mods if u have or had any.

I had this problem in the past when alt+tab the game with the gtx1060. Hope it helps.

I had a problem begin recently. Everything using the wi-fi server on it began getting slowed down.

Was updating the smart Televison and found some neighbors set up Wi-Fi Direct on their new smart TV and it connected
wi-Fi Direct to mine allowed them without knowing they were allowed to access my TV wi-fi even though they have their own Internet router. Turned Off router Wi-Fi, Switched off TV wi-fi, connected my computer to wired too. Fixed the problem.

it's not that dude. He has a 3060 matched with decent hardware. I run this game with a 3060 ti and only ryzen 5 2600 x on ULTRA and get 80 fps generally. He should be running it on ultra at minimum 60 fps at 1440. If he's talking 4 k, I don't expect him to even hit 60

That's why its called "troubleshooting" if everything was working fine he wouldn't be here. Check off the easy stuff and move on to more difficult tests.

Does that cpu have ecores?

Try turning them off in the bios.
Thank all of you guys.

I tried both fullscreen and borderless, I have the same thing with alt-tab as you do and I find fullscreen work better, more stable, but I tried both, had roughly same results. Also refresh rate is set 60, same as my monitor.

I'm using lan cable for my internet connection, no internet issues. if there are any, that's because internet died altogether.

I think it may be down to Memory handling issues. I've had the same symptoms end up in crashes that look like a memory overrun in the Event Viewer error log, and I have 32GB and it's plenty quick enough.
That's what I think too but have no crashes at all, just unstable fps and frequent drops.

I'm talking 2k, that's what I'm using on my 27" monitor. When those drops occur, dropping resolution down to 1080p do nothing, it's the same 20-30 fps max until you relaunch the game.

I don't think I do, but I will check bios

Thank you all again! Troubleshooting continues

NMS is known to be a resource hog even on PC with higher specs.

Try again my previous suggestions and use DLSS performance.

I'm running NMS an average 100 FPS at 100hz refresh rate at 2k at high settings with - DLSS quality - and have no issues. Only some occasional stutter if i switch to DLAA.

If you have the latest Nvidia drivers, try to revert to some previous version and see which one works best. Months ago, I had Forza Horizon 4 crashing after 20 min in game, and the solution was reverting to an old driver to fix it.

P.S. if you don't do live streaming, do not install GeForce Experience, only the drivers.

Good luck.
