Go to this thread. People are giving eggs away for them right now.

Yeah....but does it have a laser? :)

I have a sentinal dog. You cannot equip it with a laser and I have never seen it fire one. Its litterally a big stupid dog with zoomies running around like a nut job.

Sentinel Quads come pre-equipped with the laser after you get them, and as long as its independent and aggressive it will use it when anything tries to attack you. The quad is an expedition reward, but you can get it's egg from other players.

The main thing is that you can't change the color with out mods, its default blue like the friendly drone and hardframe Minotaur parts.

Yep, you can get a sentinel dog companion. BUT, like all the pet companions, it just gets in the way and does not really serve any functional purpose. It won't help you in a fight with sentinels for example.

The quickest way to get it would be to use the Save Game Editor and give yourself that reward from the Expedition it came with. You can then pick up the egg from the QS dealer in the Anomaly.

Ive seen companions fight sentinnels. It doesn't happen often. Most of the time they have the "scouting ahead" speech bubble and are just standing there, but I have seen those mounted lasers fire up occasionally. The one I've gotten to do it the most is one of those weird creatures that looks like it has 4 legs but still walks upright. i'm not sure what makes them more likely to attack though. I have all my pets to 100% aggressive, helpful, independent and i hardly ever see them attack senntinels but I have seen it

My sentinel dog will happily fight hostile sentinels.
What doesn't happen often is it actually killing enemy sentinels.

But that's OK-- it is keeping its target busy and likely one of the healer drones as well, which makes it easier to kill off any other healers and then the rest of the mob.

In that case I must have the stupid one from the litter. I swear if I ever let him loose on one of those planets with ball creatures he'd want to play fetch.

Do you mean the sentinal dog thats an Expo reward?

Yeah, that is more accurate then what I said. They technically can attack, but even if they do it is not really helpful. Similar to the squad when fighting in space. They may provide bullet sponge protection, but not really noteworthy in actually doing any damage.
