As far as I know, that's no longer a thing.

That's a shame, I wonder why they decided to do that.

I looked up Helios' page on the NMS wiki, looks like they axed the free receiver with the Waypoint update.

probably because it made it too easy to do a bunch of derelict freighter (dungeon) missions to build your freighter up... so to make enhancing your freighter more rewarding as you finally achieve the ability to enhance it, they made it harder to get the items needed for those enhancements... eg: salvaged frigate modules (for tech mods) and freighter bulkheads (for adding more slots)

tl/dr; basically i think that HG thought people were maxing out their freighters too fast so they slowed everyone down that plays the game naturally...

FWIW: those that are prone to use a save file editor are not hampered...

I've been using the same scanner for months. Just put it in your personal refiner after you land on the freighter, before you open the door.

considering that it takes 100+ runs even with guaranteed s-class upgrades from a run, it is not that likely that upgrading a freighter was "too easy"
for those who tink it is "too easy", the solution is really easy, do freighter-runs with starter gear, zero upgrades

LOL....nah, I'm just a cheap bastard. I have a stasis farm making ~200 units per day but the scrounger in me just won't let me overpay for anything :)

i don't know about that... i remember spending almost a whole day running the same derelict freighter over and over and over gathering all the frigate stuff i could... it was giving S-Class items and was a very short mission... it was pretty easy and i was able to max that freighter in a short time...

i'm not the only one that does or has done this, either... of course the key is to have a bunch of anomaly detectors or to use that glitch where you stash it in your personal refiner to keep it after using it... in my specific case, i had been saving the free detectors from Helios for weeks so i had a nice stack of them to work with...

I'm ok with the fetch this and fetch that, but when you were only getting ONE frigate upgrade module out of every 4 - 6 freighters, crashed, derelict or otherwise and many upgrades require EIGHT or more I drank I nice tall glass of screw this bs I'll just dupe the fukers, been happily No mans Skying at MY pace ever since.

Either they want to make it "harder" to get freighter upgrade or it's a preventive mesure considering delectic freighters currently crashes your game if you are not on experimental.

Funny how HG shutdown the Helios supply but left in the personal refiner trick. Go figure :steamfacepalm:

not if they add an attribute to every item indicating if it can go into a refiner or not... then simply check for that attribute when trying to place said item into a refiner and go RED when not allowed or accept the drop when it is allowed... that would stop any and all placement of unrefinable items in refiners...
Wait that was intentionally removed? What the ♥♥♥♥.
