Though I have never tried this using a freighter, so I don't know if it can be done and what the consequences would be. Maybe I'll give it a try this weekend.
Tested it last night and can confirm that it is possible to make the core jump in the freighter.
My freighter and fleet seems to be just fine. I did take a lot of damage to my active starship, MT, and exosuit. Of course I forgot to switch to a junker MT...
In that case ideally summon a non-broken ship, fly to a yellow star system and summon your freighter there. Then :), make an effort to collect frigate upgrade modules and the bits needed to install an Indium drive.
That's why I'm only noting this as a theoretical possibility - because I make sure my freighter is summonable everywhere ASAP.
Thanks for responding! I was curious how that would work if I did a core jump with a freighter. Junker ship and junker MT before core jumping in the freighter it is, going forward.
