Need some help/pointers
With getting a flipping walker brain, what sort of kits do you use to take these things down? getting in the ship isn't an option, unless you like your shields shredded by interceptors, the paralysis mortar freezes them for a loads of time to get things done, this generous amount of time being 1.8 seconds (you know for the amount of resources this thing took to build I expected more), the geo cannon flicks a spec or 2 of paint off. So some tips would be most welcome.

My strategy is to not get too close and circle strafe. They mostly miss as long as you keep moving. My weapon of choice against them is an upgraded pulse spitter, or the 'fire hose' as some call it.

You can do it with a bolt caster (gives you the most range and the least recoil) and a personal Forcefield (it helps you you have some bolt caster modules installed). It takes a while but it can be done successfully.

You do realize that you have to remove all of the leg and upper torso armor before the head armor becomes vulnerable? Personally, I find the Pulse-Spitter most effective at this.

Actually use the Geo myself, just upgraded with all S Class. 7 to 8 shots then down.

First: use either the Scatter blaster or Pulse spitter w/mods. If you don;'t have either of these weapons... STOP and get them... NOW!

Second: Make sure ALL the healers are killed. Shoot one leg upper and lower armor, now shoot the other leg, upper and lower armor. Now start shooting the head and once the walker starts moving again shoot them with the mortar. The Pulse spitter has a slight disadvantage but will still do the job.

Same here! You just pop up on top of the abandoned building and shoot one egg and as many of the little bastards as you can. You go to three different abandoned buildings to complete the series. Back to the Nexus and turn it in for one walker brain.

another tip is that you can put a building between you and the walker... then you can shoot it over the roof of the building and its shots will generally hit the building protecting you...

at one time i used to use the terrain manipulator, before the battle, and build me a four dirt wall hidey hole that i'd hop into for the same purposes...

i've also been known to get right up under the walker where he cannot shoot me and hit him from there...

i generally try to be sure to take out all the little flying guys before taking on the walker... especially if i'm by myself... the summoners and repair bots go first... then the dogs and the others followed, finally by the walker and using buildings or my own dirt walls for protection from their shots...

If you're weak, no upgrades, fight from the door of a building till you've thinned out the herd a bit. Run out, kill any hiding, health up as needed. Wait for the next wave to come in, try to kill repair bots from long range as they're coming in. Then run back inside, rinse and repeat. If you screw up, take major damage, just hide inside till alert drops, shield regens...they'll still be outside, so shoot them up and try again.

Kill all the little repair drones top priority, every wave. When the dogs arrive, get on top of something (even your ship, if you stay inside a building they've got a bad habit of getting stuck in the floors/walls), kill the repair bots, then the dogs, then the drones. Keep moving, use health ups as needed. Don't use any of the health up drops (glowing barrels) you don't need to, save them for emergency. The mechs are no big deal if you keep moving. Stun them, kill them. Ignore the walker till last. If the opportunity presents while clearing the other drones, shoot his leg armor...then he'll stumble around in circles awhile instead of shooting at you. Once everything else is dead, shoot leg armor, brain armor, then just keep shooting him in the face. If you're short ammo, use the laser, just takes longer. Keep him stun locked.
Kill priority; (1) repair drones, always. (2) Alert bots (triangle ones). (3) dogs. (4). mech bots. (5) bomb launching drones. (6) regular drones. (7) walker.

go between the legs, curcle and shoot. some s class upgrades to the basic gun is enugh to defeat it easy. I do this even on perma death. if you start to take too much damage then you can always recharge your personal shield. bonus points if you have a shield recharge station near your base and that is where you decide to start the battle.

you can get the walker brain quite easily with a stock boltcaster from a basic C class multi-tool. i've done it enough times. in fact you don't need any additional upgrades to your suit in any way so long as you know how to avoid enemy fire and find cover long enough to get a shield recharge and leaving those canisters behind and picking them up when your shield runs low. you do it correctly, the sentinels will never get close to killing you.

the key is to take out the repair droids quickly and the drone that produces more of its allies in the field (the triangular shaped ones. sometimes this drone in particular is more of a threat than the repair drone). in the early going in each wave, you run around but kill as many as you can starting with the repair droids, split them up if you can and take out lone targets for the first 2 waves and the early waves from 3 to 5.

when the quads (look like robotic attack dogs without a head) arrive, avoid them until you removed the flying drones (the early waves from 3 to 5). then take these out, always keep running around to avoid getting targeted by a ram attack from the quad.

in wave 4 and 5, a small mech shows up, take out the orange armour points to disable its ability to move around quickly and then attack the central mass (also be sure to avoid mortar fire from the mechs).

lastly the walker itself shows up, by itself is not very threatening compared to the mechs beneath it, again take off the armour around the "head" and the legs, then keep shooting it until it's destroyed. the head will be left for you to salvage and you'll get the walker brain from that.

To find a pirate base it is really helpful as the key mat for the conflict scanner. I tried just G map roulette for a bit but finally did not want to waste anymore time and just got me a walker brain and then the pirate system.

@MrBufferlow, You can use the economy scanner to find Outlaw systems, and it's far easier to get the materials for. It's also more useful overall.
