you wont reach the end of it! its so huge that even if you could live 5000 years and played nonstop you still would be far far away from the edge ;) sorry

Since the number of planets is finite (even though it's a mind-boggling number still)..yeah...at some point you would pretty much end up in empty space.

well - its not "infinite" - so either you would stop moving or there would be LOTS AND LOTS of nothing. we wont know until its released....and you would have to be at a point at the very edge.

according to the video interviews you have watched , nope.
No edge just blackness for eternity.

I assume you'd reach the end, before that time, since your goal is to reach the center... otherwise, you must start really close to the center then, eh?

i doubt there is an edge, but if there is, i dont think anyone could live long enough to find it.

in game you can jump from star to star within a galaxy.

now we assume at this point there will be travel between galaxies, though it will likely be jump/portal based to.

so finding the edge of the universe would first require finding the last galaxy out on the furthest reachs, then entering that galaxy, going to the last solar system on its edge, and then flying out towards the void as fast as you can.

even if the dead space only extends a proportionally small area out around the universe, it would still take literal years most likely, if not lifetimes, to reach it at normal travel speeds.

a journalist once said he zoomed out completely on the map and the first galaxy he was in looked like a large, dented sphere. don't ask for source, cant remember where it was. edit: dont know how the whole univerde would look like

According to theory it is ;) Nobody's been there before, so we don't know for sure.

even if our universe isnt infinite, it is likely expanding faster than anyone could possibly travel towards the outside, so you could never actually catch up to the "edge".

There is so edge in the universe of No Man's Sky, but you can go away from the galaxy and fly into the darkness. You wont find anything but you can do it.

This is correct, it's how the game's engine works, it doesn't load the world when you start playing, it's rendering around you in real time while you play, and when you reach the edge of the Universe and go past that, nothing will be rendered, it will stay black but you'll still able to continue to fly, but obviously there won't be a point in doing so.

Just to give you a idea of the size of the game, Sean said in multiple interviews that 99.9% of all the planets in the game will never be visited by a player :)

From what I've heard you start at the edge of the universe and work your way to the center.

Two more weeks, sigh.
They said you start near it I think but could be wrong
