Freighter bases not Transferring?
Since the new patch I've changed Freighters twice, once changing a model of freighter from Sentinel to Venator, and lost my base. This was the first time its happened in about 300hrs of game time, So i figured it was something to do with the ship type change. I've just changed again to a larger Venator class freighter and its done it again, lost the 60+ rooms i had built up as well as all the mats used to build those rooms. Is this the new system, or is my game now bugged enough i need to put it down?

You need to leave an item in your old Freighters inventory, it will then ask if you are sure you want to swap the Freighter because of this item, click yes. This is when it should ask if you want to swap the layout of your old Freighter to your new one. Obviously click yes again.

Its a real pain, just remember the item you leave in the Old Freighters inventory will be lost, so use something you do not mind losing.

let me guess... you aren't aware of the thing about leaving something behind (eg: 1x Carbon) in your freighter's Cargo to trigger the "transfer your base" dialog, right? this is a new thing since Endurance (3.90) dropped (IIRC) and it has carried over into Waypoint (4.0)...

before Endurance, yes, the transfer was automatic... since then, it is not... probably because the freighters you rescue now have some rooms in them that you may want to keep... i've seen a few interesting ones but since we cannot move a room and all of its contents to another position in the build area, i just try to take a snapshot of them and recreate them later... so yeah, in my case, i always leave 1x Carbon behind to trigger the dialog and move my entire base over...

You have to leave at least one item in your existing freighter's inventory or you won't get the option to transfer your base. It's an annoying bug that's been around for a while now.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Imo, the "old" way was much better. Seems to me that the default process when obtaining a new freighter should be to preserve whatever base layout existed, and then give the player the option whether to reset the freighter to its "stock" config.

that makes three options, then...

1. keep new freighter's existing base layout and lose your existing base layout
2. reset the new freighter's base layout and lose your existing base layout
3. transfer your old freighter's base to the new freighter and lose its current layout

are there any more?

There's already an option to reset the freighter base available, at all times, they would not need to add it to the freighter transfer process, as you could just do the transfer, and then go reset the base if you want to.

while this is true, apparently some people would like to be able to do it during the claim process ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LOL, still, theyh wouldn't need to add 3 options. 1 and 2 are identical in your scenario of 3 options.

Agree. Should only require minimum effort to redo the existing menu.
It's really just about making it simpler for players (who wouldn't know better) to not end up unintentionally losing the time/effort they put into their freighters.

no, they are not the same... in the 1st one, you keep the new freighter's rooms whereas in the 2nd one you remove them... in both cases, you lose your existing base on your old freighter...

By base its referring to the extra rooms and stuff you've put in them?
