Galaxies 256 & onward
I understand these were removed from the game yet still reachable if you can access a player's base that is established in one of the "removed" galaxies. If they are removed how come they are still usable? Is this a lore/story thing? Finally, curiosity has the better of me, anyone here have a way to one of these?

I should add I only want to go via a player base route. Last mod I ever used was the one that gave you player controlled Bentusi ships in Homeworld cataclysm.

Galaxies in the game are technically numbered 0 to 255 (or 1 to 256). As far as I am aware after the 256th galaxy you return to the 1st galaxy, Euclid numbered 0.

Without help from another base already at the location or player to transport you there. you would probably have to use a third party mode like the NMSsaveeditor to edit your file and place you or a base on a planet in any galaxy you choose.

Using a mod can potentially have disastrous consequences on your save file if you do not make back ups, to be able to restore things as they were.

You can only still reach one of them (256, Odyalutai) all of the others are completely gone. Except for 257, which is basically a 'developers' galaxy and you can only reach it using the save editor, as far as I'm aware.

My guess is it's just a database thing.
If they would have completely removed the galaxies from the game it would have broken the game for those who already found or used them.

I just reached it today. I was looking at space anomaly bases and saw one was in "Odyalutai" galaxy so I hopped a ride to it. I was surprised to find out it was 256. I googled it and it says you can't reach it anymore and it also says if you go to the center, it takes you to hilbert dimension.
Also, what does happen if you go to the galaxy center of 255? Where does it take you f everything else after that is now unreachable the normal way?

It takes you back to Euclid.

wow how amazing is it to have your own hidden galaxy :D Must be kinda empty and silent too now. Which most galaxies are, but still.

This one is gone since quite a while even using a save editor : the only one left is 256 (Odyalutai)

Id be happy to, 1st i need to reinstall the game, and 2nd, we hook up and we can go. if traveling via the anamoly teleport-er doesn't work - (base name is Trisolarin Refuge) we group and then you launch your ship, select "join player in their star system" and you will be there, thats what I had to do when I was given a lift. You will also want to find a place to build a base so you can then access it at will.

Considering this post was Nov '22, you both might need a time machine to go back to help this person since you brought it back from the dead.

The person who responded to the necro is the thread creator, if you didn't notice. They must have a time machine.

You people are never flipping happy, you complain if people don't use search, you complain if people DO use search and inquire about something that to my knowledge hasn't changed. if you all put this kind of energy into asking for game content, we would all be working on an Expo to give us a ship that rivals the dreadnought in the Superdreadknoght book series. How about it, Hunger games? care to give us a a quest for ship that ACTUALLY is truly different?

To the guy wanting access to galaxy 256, because I'm such a nice guy, i decided to uninstall Pacific Drive, JUST to put NMS back on and help you out, isn't that nice of me?

Why did you reply to me with that statement? I'm not the one who was critical, I was being critical towards the person being critical by pointing out that you, the thread creator, did in fact respond. i.e. his criticism was invalid before he even posted.
