Just got my first Companion- Can I leave the planet I found them on?
I found my creature Cosmo on a hexagonal planet while exploring. I really love the little guy and I am worried that if I leave the planet, he'll not be a be to travel with me. I tried looking up information online but a lot of stuff isn't clear or plainly outdated. Will my pal be good if I left his home planet?

You can summon any pets you've tamed from your "utility belt" menu by pressing down (or w/e keyboard key it is). You only start with one pet slot, but you can unlock more via that menu.

They don't starve either incase you're wondering later.
They'll always be with you until you"abandon" them from the menu. Honestly they could've used a better word like "release" instead huh?

And unless you take the trouble to travel to their native biome, suddenly they're all alone, stranded, on a hostile planet. I guess the first things they'll need to do are to find some sodium and then try and find a ship to fix up...

Well that's what you do, it's like "pass away" instead of die, the fact remains, you let the poor little bastidge loose on a strange planet... you're abandoning it lol
