Nice relaxing way to get Nanite Clusters?
I know killing sentinels is a great way to get them, but I feel I need a lot more upgrades for that to be effective. Also I play it for more exploration than to go blowing up little robots.

I usually just find Buried Technology and turn it into Nanite Clusters, but is there a more easier/relaxing way to do it? Or is Buried Technology the easiest way to do it?

Create a runaway mold farm. I can send you system glyphs if need help finding a mold cluster.

Mold farm is definitely the fastest way now. My "relaxing" way is to just hop in the roamer on a dead planet and go around harvesting larva eggs. I'm in and out before the horrors can get me plus I enjoy riding around jumping the hills in low gravity.

There are many items that refine into nanites. Hadal Cores, larval cores, salvage tech, tainted metal. Can also sell upgrades for nanites. So I collect all the above while exploring and turn them to nanites.

If you have lots of cash, you can go to a 3 star economy system and just wait in the space station for ships to come in. Buy "B" class or better ships from their captains, run over, and scrap them. Sell off the parts to recover more of your cash and then sell the modules to the vendors for nanites. Safe and simple, especially useful for a permadeath save.

Make a platinium farm.

I find the derelict freighters quite relaxing. Couple of thousand nanites per run, usually.

If you want mass quantities quickly, the mold farm method is probably the most relaxing and best....outside of just using the save game editor and giving yourself a boatload.

I would still collect the Hadal Cores but I like exploring underwater. If you can find the right water source, you can pick them every 150 m or so and also be looking for critters while you do it. Use the terrain manipulator if you find any "buried" under rocks. It does not release the jelly fish if you do it that way.

Goto pirate system.
Shoot the cargo containers on freighters and their turrets.
DO NOT shoot frigets or free floating container pods.
fill up yer cargo bay.
Sell up.
Sit in rich space station looking at the pretty ships.

No rep damage, no sentinels and never have to worry bout money again.

heck, you can even just run around and collect Salvaged Data and refine it for nanites

Coming across Mould patches in the wild fits your exploration style. They are just random, found by watching the HUD when flying. They are very satisfying to harvest, great physics, and once found will always regen. It may not be a thing, but it seems like going to a POI like a drop pod or minor settlement and scanning around is somewhat useful.

Build your base AROUND a runaway Mould farm. Make the portal entrance so it lands you right infront of the mold. Put refiners next to them.
So everytime you portal into your main base, you shoot the mould already there infront of you, slap it in the refiner and then go about your business and this isn't grindy at all because you aren't just doing it over and over but they add up if you do this everytime you portal into your base
That's my non-grindy method. I have about 40 mould farms and a couple where I can short range teleport from one to the next but honestly its boring and I hardly use them. I find the first method I mentioned much better than farming, even if it is less nanites.

print off a trading chart.
write down where all your space stations are on the chart (mining etc).
Teleport.
Buy and sell till you end up back at the start.

Has the added advantage that when you end up at high wealth type system you can take out a wee bit of time to watch the ships coming in to try and nab a S class, squid ship etc. Which you can prob afford now.

How does trading help with nanites?

If you like checking out new planets then scanning all wildlife then going to discoveries screen under fauna for that planet, select "upload for completion bonus" or something and it'll net you up to a couple thousand.
Yeah. Scan all the creatures on every lush planet you set foot on. Choose low conflict systems warp to. Easy Nanites, thousands of them and you improve your milestones. Just wander and have fun. :) Open crashed salvage pods you stumble across and interact with terminals in buildings. Sometimes they reward tech that can be sold for nanites. Basically play the game of exploration but always be on the look out for upgrade tech opportunities and do space station missions for nanites that can be completed at the same time. Nanites soon mount up.
